About the Role:The Field Technician Coordinator oversees and optimizes the scheduling of field technicians. Key duties include leading team meetings, tracking jobs, managing fitting orders, verifying details and readiness, arranging logistics, conducting follow-ups, and maintaining communication with customers and internal teams.This role requires independent travel, on-site tasks, and work in challenging environments like underground mining sites. Ensuring safety and quality compliance and collaborating with teams for field support are essential. Flexibility between scheduling coordination and field technician responsibilities as needed.Duties and Responsibilities:Proactive Order Management:
- Monitor fitting orders closely, ensuring they are on schedule for timely delivery.
- Communicate any issues or challenges to relevant parties promptly, addressing potential delays.
Order Verification and Technician Readiness:
- Confirm order details, including addresses, dates, and technician requirements.
- Ensure technicians possess necessary certifications and site access, proactively addressing any discrepancies.
Efficient Job Preparation:
- Upload field fitting jobs to Trello for effective preparation and tracking.
- Update and meticulously maintain Trello boards for real-time visibility and task management.
On-site Technical Duties:
- Support the installation, maintenance, and inspection of diesel exhaust systems and thermal blankets for heavy industrial equipment.
- Conduct field tasks, utilizing expertise in diesel exhaust systems, welding, electrical work, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Perform field fitting jobs as needed.
- Engage in on-site customer interactions and address technical challenges.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and quality standards during field operations.
- Independently travel to various locations, including challenging environments such as underground mining sites.
- Collaborate with appropriate teams to ensure seamless operations in the field.
Logistical Arrangements:
- Make necessary arrangements to guarantee smooth access for field technicians, covering tickets, hotels, rental cars, insurance, and certifications.
Pre- and Post-Installation Follow-up:
- Share photos and measurements gathered by field technicians with Pricing and Engineering teams, updating Trello as necessary.
- Conduct follow-ups with field technicians upon job completion, recording any issues in Trello.
- Coordinate meetings with engineering, production, quality, and sales teams to resolve identified issues.
Customer Communication:
- Communicate resolutions to customers promptly, ensuring their satisfaction with the completed work.
Conduct Weekly Field Tech Meetings:
- Lead weekly meetings to align the field tech team, discuss ongoing projects, and address any challenges.
Schedule Maintenance and Reporting:
- Keep the schedule board updated with real-time order additions throughout the week.
- Report any order delays to the Inside Sales and Customer Service teams promptly.
- Provide Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) updates to Inside Sales and Customer Service teams.
Continuous Improvement:
- Actively participate in the development of new systems and ensure their maintenance as required.
Qualifications:Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Proven experience in scheduling and coordination in technical or mechanical field.
- Previous experience as a Field Technician.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
Skills:
- Proficient in project management tools, particularly Trello or similar task management platforms.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to lead and facilitate effective team meetings.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Familiarity with logistics coordination for field operations.
- Technical proficiency in diesel exhaust systems, welding, and electrical work.
- Adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
- Willingness to travel independently to various locations, including challenging environments.
- Flexibility to seamlessly transition between scheduling coordination and field technician responsibilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Mobility: Ability to move around the office, visit clients, attend meetings, and conduct site visits as needed. Independent travel to various locations, including challenging environments such as underground mining sites.
- Manual Dexterity: Basic manual skills for operating office equipment, as well as technical tasks involving diesel exhaust systems, welding, and electrical work.
- Stamina: Ability to handle physical demands of fieldwork, including standing, walking, lifting, and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs for extended periods.
- Visual and Auditory Acuity: Good vision and hearing for conducting inspections, reading technical documents, and communicating effectively in noisy environments.
- Technical Proficiency: Capability to handle tools and equipment specific to the installation, maintenance, and inspection of diesel exhaust systems and thermal blankets for heavy industrial equipment.
- Ability to wear PPE for prolonged periods of time, ability to undergo mask fitting tests, etc.
