PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:CPKC are hiring a student for a 6-month term, starting in January 2025. The Co-Op program will give you an opportunity to gain large public-company experience with a culture committed to success and development. You will collaborate on projects that require detailed analytical review, and progress real-time business and process improvements. The job requires an aptitude for data mining, analytics, problem solving and a drive for collaboration.POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:Financial Planning

  • Prepare monthly revenue, expense and/or capital forecasts
  • Prepare reports and complete ad hoc analysis, including variance analysis
  • Support financial planning projects including process improvement, information technology enhancements, etc.

Accounting

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Prepare financial analysis on monthly and quarterly data
  • Perform other month end closing responsibilities and related reporting

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Enrolled in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce or Economics program with an accredited institution, preferably students going into their third (3) or fourth (4) year
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including but not limited to Excel
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Manage expectations and prioritize work-based requirements
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform critical self-reviews
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to use Best Practice to achieve departmental goals
