As we continue to expand, we’re looking for a talented Finance Manager to join our team and drive our financial operations to new heights.About the RoleAs our Finance Controller, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing our comprehensive finance operations. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will manage a dedicated team of 3-5 finance assistants and accountants, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial processes across both our UK and US operations.Key Duties & Responsibilities:Accounting LeadershipManage a team of 3-5 finance assistants and accountants.Oversee the full accounting function, including AR, AP, bookkeeping, and more.Take ownership of month-end close processes, reconciliations, and management reporting for both UK and US operations.Conduct thorough VAT return reviews to ensure compliance and accuracy.Prepare comprehensive year-end accounts for UK and US entities in alignment with financial standards and regulations.Collaborate closely with external accountants in the UK and US to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.Payroll and Employee OnboardingManage bi-monthly and monthly payroll processing and employee onboarding, ensuring strict adherence to company policies and legal standards across both UK and US.File P11Ds with HMRC.Operational Support and ManagementProvide essential support to the team’s daily operations, facilitating a seamless workflow and efficient practices.Consistently achieve and surpass KPI and OKR targets that align with the organisation’s strategic goals.Foster the development and maintenance of robust financial controls to secure the company’s assets and ensure financial integrity.Project Management and Process ImprovementLead and manage ad-hoc projects, demonstrating flexibility and a capacity to drive change.Champion the enhancement of finance processes and tools, including the introduction of automation to increase efficiency and accuracy.R&D and Loan ConsultingWork closely with our R&D team to support client queries in R&D accounting and file clients’ CT600 for R&D claims.Collaborate with our loan consultants to support client queries in financial modelling and forecasting.About YouFully qualified accountant with credentials such as ACCA or CIMA.Experience working in a UK business with a US subsidiary, in a US reporting environment, and/or familiar with US GAAP and/or IFRS.Previous experience managing a small team is also essential.Experience in a high-growth or scale-up business environment, particularly within start-ups or fast-paced settings.Previous hands-on experience with Xero accounting software is preferred.Critical and analytical thinker with a proven ability to challenge and enhance existing processes.Proven track record of successfully implementing process improvements in accounting practices.Proactive problem-solving skills with a strong inclination for identifying and resolving inefficiencies.Ability to work independently and meet stringent deadlines without compromising the quality of work.Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all financial and administrative tasks.Highly organised with a demonstrated capacity to prioritise tasks effectively in a multitasking environment.The successful candidate will be UK-based and must be based and have the right to work in the UK.
