Finance Director, Pipeline AnalyticsLocation: GSK HQ, LondonTo establish a clear and robust picture of the financial contribution of the R&D portfolio (and each of the sub TA portfolios) to GSK’s growth targets, external commitments and R&D productivity.As the Portfolio Finance Director, you will be responsible for managing a team of portfolio analytics professionals to develop and maintain a clear picture of the financial contribution of the R&D portfolio to GSK’s growth targets, external commitments, and R&D Productivity. You will work alongside colleagues in R&D, Commercial, Corporate and Portfolio Management to support in the definition and application of robust methods for appropriately valuing our investments.You will work closely with the TA Portfolio Finance VPs and the extended Finance organisation (Corporate/Commercial), to establish and maintain a consistent and robust approach to articulating and communicating the value generated by R&D and the contribution made to growth ambitions at both a TA and total R&D level. You will support in the definition of a framework by which to assess investment decisions and deploy this into both TA and pan TA decision forums. You will play a pivotal role in communicating the value of the R&D pipeline, enabling senior stakeholders to assess and understand the impact decisions have on the Long-Range Forecast, the Pipeline Value and our growth ambitions, thereby contributing to external perception of GSK and its R&D engine.Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Ensure that there is a consistent and robust Project Valuation methodology aligned with core stakeholders and suitable for multiple use cases, e.g. Project Decision Making, Intangible asset valuation,….Maintain the corporate and standard assumptions to be utilised within project valuations. Work with the R&D Finance and Corporate Finance teams to ensure that the right assumptions are generate and distributed to ensure accurate and robust project valuations. Own the Enrich system from a business perspective, the single source of truth for project valuations and work with a team of technical professionals to ensure that the system aligns to business and security requirements.Lead training and capability initiatives to ensure Asset Finance Partners are equipped to align project valuations to the agreed Project Valuation methodology. When complex issues arise, engage and align with relevant stakeholders, e.g. Tax, on the appropriate action to take.Working with the VP Portfolio Finance to define the core set of metrics to be tracked/assessed at core governance forums (e.g. ROI/IRR/R&D Productivity) and design a set of standard context material to be utilised at each TA and cross TA portfolio decision.Establish tracking, and reporting mechanisms to enable an integrated view of R&D financial portfolio metrics and ensure these are appropriately integrated into the core business cycle, e.g. the Quarterly Performance Review. This will support effective communication of R&Ds contribution to pipeline value, long range forecast (LRF), pipeline inflection points and R&D productivity.Facilitate the definition of the Pipeline Value Target (a Bonus Driver) on an annual basis and support in the tracking of this on a quarterly basis in coordination with the TA finance teams and the commercial finance organisation.Support in the integration of the R&D Pipeline into the LRF process and ensure cohesion with the Pipeline Value Target. Work with the VP Portfolio Finance to ensure the LRF methodology appropriately reflects pipeline uncertainty.Lead the production of financial context material taken to core pan TA Governance forums, e.g. PIB Financial Context material and, working with the TA VP Finance Head and TA Portfolio Management Head, articulate impact & consequences of decisions.Coordinate and assist the finance activities in the annual planning cycle (Dynamic Portfolio Review), integrating TA submissions, analysing data to ensure consistency of submissions, reviewing with VP TA Finance Head and Portfolio Lead and conducting analysis to aid prioritisation.Identifies, launches, and executes initiatives aimed at increasing level of integration of financial data with portfolio management and resource management data to improve quality of decision making.Consistently applies project management best practices and tools to drive predictable execution and customer satisfaction through tracking and control of project deliverables, hands-on management of issues, decisions, and actions and proactive risk management.Define and deliver a continuous improvement roadmap to increase working efficiencies and alignment across functions.Why you?Basic Qualifications:We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, mathematics, economics or project management (or qualified by experience)Extensive years of professional experience, ideally with program, project, portfolio management experienceBiopharmaceutical customer and industry knowledgeTrack record of driving sound business decision making in relation to complex problems based on robust, impartial financial analysisAbility to work in a cross functional/matrixial environmentAbility to work in a complex and fast-moving environment with multiple prioritiesAbility to connect with and influence business stakeholders at all levels in a technical environmentStrong skills in modelling, analysis, forecasting, strategic / scenario planning, and decision makingGood level of business acumen and prior pharmaceutical industry experiencePreferred Qualifications:If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:Good communication and soft skillsAbility to prioritize and manage multiple priorities and deadlinesThe successful candidate will be autonomous, self-confident, motivated, result oriented and have a Continuous Improvement mindsetThe successful candidate will be a seasoned people leader with track record in developing a performing teamAbility to effectively communicate and articulate complex problems to drive decisionsClosing Date for Applications: 18th November 2024 (COB)We create a place where people can grow, be their best, be safe, and feel welcome, valued and included.
