The RoleFinance Manager at SO ENERGYReporting into our CFO – Iain McGregor 👋, we are looking for a strong Finance Manager to support our growing finance team whose purpose will be to ensure accurate and timely reporting of the business financials, maintaining key control environments and managing our cashflows and funding.Managing a team of 6 the Finance Manager responsibilities include delivering the monthly accounts process, providing challenge to accruals and other assumptions and ensuring the financial controls are maintained at all times. Furthermore you will support the commentary on key variances in the monthly reporting pack.You will look after our cash, ensuring that industry parties are paid on time whilst maximising the funding available to the business. You will support the monthly engagement with Ofgem, industry regulator, ensuring that our periodic obligations are met.Working with the Finance team and wider business to help create accurate and informed budgets and forecasts.Ultimately you will be a key voice and partner to both internal and external stakeholders ensuring delivery of key financial insights to help manage risk, identify opportunities and support business planning.In order to be successful in this role you will have proven track record of managing stakeholder and a strong understanding of preparing financials in a complex environment.What you’ll be getting up to:

  • Ensure the development and training of the finance team
  • Oversee the production of monthly management accounts.
  • Ensure control environment is maintained at all times.
  • Manage risks and opportunities in the financial accounts to ensure clear visibility at all times.
  • Work with FP&A and Business Partnering to ensure the distribution if timely and accurate financial information across the business.
  • Review, challenge and approve/reject expenditure.
  • Maintain RCM and Risk registers
  • Review the preparation cashflows and ensuring timely supplier payments
  • Support the CFO in reporting to stakeholders
  • Deputise, as required for CFO

This role will be a great fit if:

  • Recognised accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent.
  • Proven work experience in a senior finance role.
  • Ability to demonstrate the understanding of monthly Management Accounts process.
  • Understanding of key controls within the finance environment
  • In-depth understanding of cash flow and loan management in a fast moving industry.
  • Hands-on experience with budgeting and risk management
  • Ability to interpret financial results and translate these to non-financial managers
  • Strong IT skills, proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Solid analytical and decision-making skills
  • Leadership abilities and strong communication skills
  • Energy industry experience will be a significant advantage but not essential
