We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance manager to join our Financial Reporting team. The Financial Reporting team sits at the heart of Nationwide’s internal and external reporting and is accountable for delivering high quality statutory and regulatory financial reporting. The team ensures all reporting is compliant with regulations, accounting standards and best practice, developing accounting policies and providing specialist technical accounting advice on a range of issues, as well as managing the relationship with the external auditors. We have an exciting time ahead and are seeking to grow the team with high calibre individuals.As a Finance Manager for Provision Reporting you will lead significant elements of our internal and external financial reporting for credit impairment (IFRS 9) provisions – one of the most important areas of accounting judgment for the Society. You will work with both senior and junior members of the credit risk team to ensure that reporting and disclosure meet our high standards. You will be responsible for reports, controls, and complex data. You will carry out sophisticated financial analysis, analysing the impact of changes in economic conditions and borrower behaviour on our provisions.This role is a key part of a small, high-profile team of senior finance business partners, who work with a wide group of stakeholders in the Finance and Risk functions.At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. You can also find out more about our approach to .If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.What you’ll be doingYou will be ensuring modelled provisions and associated management adjustments are accurately reported in the general ledger.You will be leading aspects of Nationwide’s external reporting, including sections of Nationwide’s Annual Report and Accounts relating to credit risk.You will be working with stakeholders from across the Finance and Risk communities to understand and investigate movements in credit risk provisions.You will understand the importance of well-designed and controlled processes to our reporting and be able to deliver them to a high standard.You will support other aspects of the team’s work, such as internal management reporting, provision governance meetings, industry benchmarking, and the external audit of impairment provisions.About youAt a minimum you will be:

  • An experienced accountant with relevant qualifications (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Experience within a Financial Services environment.
  • Capable of performing complex numerical analysis, with the intellectual curiosity and initiative to apply new concepts, and the ability to explain those concepts clearly and concisely to others.
  • Confident in your ability to lead, coordinate and coach colleagues in other areas of the Society to deliver high quality financial reporting.
  • Able to interpret complex financial reporting calculations (such as financial model outputs) and external disclosures in a financial services organisation.
  • Ideally, you will have an understanding of the requirements of IFRS 9, and how expected credit losses are determined
