The Opportunity:Company, Department: Nova Scotia Power, Reg. Marketing Customer Sol.Location: Halifax, NSClosing Date: July 29th, 2024We are currently looking for a Financial Analyst, Revenue to join our Customer Experience & Innovation team in a permanent position. Reporting to the Manager, Load and Revenue Forecasting you will join a dynamic group of responsive professionals responsible for tasks related to revenue analysis and reporting, complex billing, forecasting, and analysis of sales and demand requirements. Key elements of this role include::

  • Forecasting, reporting, and communicating accrued monthly sales and revenues, providing explanations of monthly variances, and preparing revenue forecasts
  • Presenting monthly results to a variety of internal stakeholders
  • Collecting, reviewing, and reconciling month-end billing information for multiple customer classes to ensure accuracy and consistency among sources
  • Updating models and maintaining a database of monthly statistics to conduct the accrual analysis and to enhance the efficiency of the reporting and analysis process
  • Assist with data analysis and modeling projects as required, for example developing customer class load profiles and rate design analysis
  • Update and improve existing revenue forecasting and reporting process using smart meter data.

You are responsible for defining and ensuring a high level of quality control in your work, in accordance with defined revenue control and sales forecasting methods. You will ensure that electronic working files are appropriately maintained, and work methods are documented.You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations These skills will make you successful::You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree in engineering, finance, or accounting and have a minimum of 5 years related experience
  • Extensive experience with Excel, experience with Tableau is a plus
  • Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of accrual accounting, journal entries and revenue/sales analysis
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated success in effectively presenting and communicating ideas at a variety of levels
  • Comfortable working with tight deadlines
  • An understanding the Nova Scotia economy will be an asset in this role
