We take pride in prevailing as an important department in today’s competitive psychology research and education fields.Under the general direction of the Department Manager, and working closely with the Senior Financial Officer, the Financial Clerk will provide financial support by processing expense reimbursements, invoices and journal entries, as well as processing billing for the fMRI facility.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Processing expense reimbursements
  • Recording detailed transactions for many accounts
  • Coding financial information for processing in FIS
  • Checking that proper approvals are obtained prior to processing transactions
  • Preparing and/or processing journal entries
  • Obtaining required authorizations and signatures to process financial documents
  • Applying the University Guide to Financial Management and other applicable policies, agency and regulatory requirements
  • Verifying the accuracy and completeness of information; identifying and resolving individual financial discrepancies

Essential Qualifications:

  • Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of relevant financial and administrative experience, including experience with SAP-based systems, including FIS, or equivalent organizational systems.
  • Experience dealing with a large volume of transactions, providing customer service, and responding to inquiries.
  • Experience processing reimbursements
  • Demonstrated skill with monitoring, recording, reconciling and/or reporting on accounts.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to process financial transactions with accuracy, as well as the ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies.
  • Must be highly service-oriented and possess strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Exceptional time management skills and the ability to multi-task and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound judgement, decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Familiarity with the University’s financial information systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with HRIS

USW Pay Band 07 — $59,172. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $75,673. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
