However, there will also be an expectation to visit other locations as the need arisesContract type – PermanentAbout the RoleAs the FinOps Data Engineer, through collaboration with Product Teams, you will ensure the right data is made available in an easy to use format, with the level of quality and integrity required to support the FinOps Analyst and FinOpsLead in their reporting needs.You will be accountable for the following:Establishing reporting dashboards,The tooling strategy for FinOps reporting & data storage / ingestionThe effective implementation of the Tagging Policy (with input from Engineering / Product teams)You will have a key input into decisions on cost optimisation opportunities in delivering savings on our IT spend by providing cost analysis that provides the insight needed to make the best business decisions.You will have working knowledge of lean and agile techniques and will utilise new and innovative tools, methods and techniques to optimise delivery of Value to the Partnership. Your role is crucial to the delivery of the Partnership’s Business and Technology Strategies.What you will doWork closely with Enterprise and Cloud Architecture teams to assist with the evaluation of our cloud engineering and management toolsEfficiently and accurately extract large sets of data from multiple sources and generate required reporting packs (both for Cost Optimisation and Cost Opportunities)In addition to cloud costs, utilise and adopt FinOps processes and best practice to better understand non Cloud costsBe excited about data accuracy and quality, ensure the data is valid, credible and meaningfulPresent complex data sets in a simplistic self service way to multiple stakeholder groupsDesign and develop FinOps dashboard using TableauSupport the FinOps Lead by inputting and contributing to the technical development of a FinOps tooling strategyDevelop and embed FinOps Data processes in line with the FinOps strategyEstablish and uphold processes to ensure compliance with the FinOps tagging Strategy and PolicyDevelop / report on KPI controls around Tagging and Cost optimisation (Waste removal)Support future business forecasting of costs for Portfolio investments utilising cloud servicesInfluence product team, engineering community on adoption of FinOps Data Management (in a matrix fashion through scrums)Establish the Data modelling architecture (e.g. blueprint) for all data sources required for effective FinOps reporting (in collaboration with Architecture)Be active in our communities of practice across engineering and development to continually enhance our collective knowledgeEnsure our cost data is available, complete, accurate, and enables teams to make high quality data driven decisions promoting business and customer valueIngest Data from multiple sources (Alfabet, Service Now, Cloud Platforms, etc) to enhance the self service capability including the generation of visualisation dashboardsHandle large data sets for activities including establishing reporting dashboards (self service) for different stakeholder groupsDeliver insights through high quality reporting and support FinOps analyst and FinOps Lead with insights and recommendationsWork with Partners and 3rd parties to build strong relationships and collaborative Ways of WorkingAn engaged collaborator with the Product teams, supporting scrums and deliverables of cost dataCollaborate with Engineers within Product Teams to embed FinOps culture, processes and capabilitiesBuild a feedback loop that reinforces positive results, provides transparency and motivates actions on more optimisations.Essential SkillsDemonstrable experience in developing and operating infrastructure in public cloud environments (GCP or AWS)Able to research, architect and drive complex technical solutions, consisting of multiple technologies and cloud servicesProficient cost management knowledge including trending and variance analysis and forecastingExperience of ingesting large data sets from multiple source and generating simple to use, self service visualisation dashboards (via Tableau, Data Studio, Alfabet)Effective communication skills that go beyond “tech talk” – the ability to translate complex IT matters to those without an IT backgroundEmbrace a commitment to high-quality practices, benchmark standards thorough reportingBe a self-starter, keen to learn and comfortable with peer feedbackAwareness of coding and development lifecycles, containerisation, virtualisation and physical compute and its lifecyclesAble to gather, process and understand complicated financial dataExperience of preparing reports for a variety of audiences.Desirable SkillsBackground in FinOps or a formal FinOps Practitioner certification (e.g. Certified FinOps Practitioner or Professional)Desirable to have knowledge of Service Now, JIRA, Planview, ApptioProficient in Google Suite applications particularly Google Sheets and SlidesCommitted to cost reduction.Additional InformationThe application form consists of a CV upload, followed by application questions.
