Please attach approval from your current manager to be considered for this job rotation in the resume/cover letter section of your application.Opportunity Awaits, Apply Today!As a Fish and Wildlife Technician (Aquatic Invasive Species Technician), you will inspect watercraft at key locations around the state in an effort to prevent the introduction and spread of aquatic invasive species and to participate in outreach and education efforts to inform the general public about the impacts of aquatic invasive species on Oregon’s fish and wildlife and their habitats. Duties include:Inspect all watercraft entering Oregon at designated locations throughout the state for freshwater invasive mussels (ex. quagga, zebra, and golden mussels) and other aquatic invasive speciesUse watercraft inspections as an education and outreach opportunity to inform members of the public about aquatic invasive species and their ecological and economic impactsDisseminate information about aquatic invasive species and proper ways to clean or decontaminate watercraft at various public venuesThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. However, we encourage candidates to apply for the Fish & Wildlife Technician Entry level ($3429 – $4207/mo.) as the department may consider under-filling the position.WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORMinimum QualificationsFish and Wildlife Technician ($3705 – $5066):An Associate’s degree in Fisheries Technology, Aquaculture, Aquarium Science, Wildlife Technology, or Agriculture;-OR-Eighteen months of fisheries experience, care of livestock, agricultural research and experimentation, monitoring game or wildlife, or farming.Equivalency Notes:A higher-level degree in Fisheries, Wildlife Science or a closely-related degree with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) hours of biological/ecological coursework will substitute for the Associate’s degree.Fish and Wildlife Technician Entry Option ($3429 – $4207):Minimum qualifications are not established for this classification (there are no minimum qualifications).
