Role Location:This is a fully remote role however, candidates must be based in the province of British Columbia, Canada. Candidates must have the legal right to work in Canada without sponsorship.We have an office located in Kelowna, BC that candidates living within a reasonable commute are more than welcome to use.Job DescriptionThe purpose of this role is to contribute to the ongoing improvement and development of our software and processes using modern engineering practices with continuous deployment of high quality software code.What your day to day will look like:Building new, improving and maintaining existing frontend componentsConversion of wireframes and mock-ups into fully functioning app featuresImplementing the structure and design of web app sectionsDeveloping features to enhance the user experienceAutomating tasks through appropriate tools and scriptingSupporting validation and verification testingDelivery of cross-browser compatibility for the platformCreation and maintenance of software documentationOptimising web pages for maximum speed and scalabilityCommitting to support a safe, mindful, and productive team environment, maintaining open, honest, and respectful communicationLearn from others and mentor those around you to help them growPlay an important role in shaping the technical direction of frontend developmentHow we do it:Building high quality, clean, efficient, and reusable code for future useCollaborating with internal teams including other developers, designers, product managers and client-facing employeesCommunicating design ideas and approaches to enhancing the platformEnsuring user experience determines design choices.Collaborating with vendors to fix and improve productsOur stack:Single page app: TypeScript, React, Chakra, React-hook-form.Ruby/Rails, GraphQL, Postgres, Redis – managed by backend engineersTesting is done with Jest and Cypress (frontend); Rspec (backend)CI/CD using CircleCI and GitHubHow we work:Distributed teamContinuous DeliveryCode ReviewsSprintsSpark ProjectsRetrospectivesQualificationsWho you are:Curiosity to develop knowledge of a variety of programming languages and frameworks.Someone who can engage in robust and articulate dialogue while maintaining an open mind.There’s an unshakeable desire to write testable and well tested code.A skilful and dependable person who recognizes that there is always more to learn.A sense of humour, and the ability to focus yet still have a laugh in high pressure situations.A pragmatic, objective thinker who can weigh up options based on requirements, best fit and maturity of technologyWhat you need to succeed:4+ years frontend development experienceProficiency with TypeScript, React.js, HTML, CSS and modern JavaScript toolingExperience with responsive and adaptive designGood problem solving skillsExcellent verbal communication skillsGood interpersonal skillsAdditional InformationWhy join us:Join our global SaaS scale-up company where we foster a collaborative, open, and transparent culture and work without ego.
