You’ll have the opportunity to work remotely while also connecting with your colleagues at our Brighton office at least once a week, fostering a dynamic and supportive environment.You’ll be working on re-inventing insurance in exciting markets across multiple territories including the UK, US and the Netherlands, and new European countries as we expand.Supported by (and reporting to) the Principal Engineer, you’ll be joining a friendly team of 7 who believe passionately in delivering an outstanding customer focused product.We value high performance and care deeply about making INSHUR feel like a place where everyone is building something really special, that we can all be proud of, and doing it with friends.What you’ll doAs a full stack engineer, you will work on a number of projects at INSHUR built using a mixture of languages and help to architect, improve, monitor and debug those systems. We currently use Typescript/React, Node, Java and Golang to deliver many services into our GCP-hosted kubernetes cluster, but aren’t afraid to try new technologies or solutions as the architecture dictates.We don’t have a definite checklist of skills – our hiring process is much more about aptitude and passion than ticking boxes. So don’t worry if you’ve not used a particular tool or checked off all the listed skills and experience.That said, below is a guideline of skills that we think would make you successful in this role.We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Exhibit experience delivering working code into production environments
  • We use Typescript/React and Java predominantly, but proficiency in other languages is not only admissible but welcome!
  • Have real world experience with delivering great performant frontends that customers love to use.
  • Have engineering mindset with a strong focus on product.
  • Have experience with event driven architectures.
  • Have experience with NoSQL and Eventually Consistent storage mediums e.g MongoDB, Cassandra, ElasticSearch.
  • Write appropriate integration and end-end tests in a BDD style.
  • Hold yourself accountable for code and engineering quality, and not only their own.
  • Have knowledge of working with containers, ideally within Kubernetes or FAAS.
  • Are unafraid to speak up if you disagree, and can articulate your reasoning clearly.
  • Has had exposure to Domain Driven Design.

What to expect from the process:Screen & Intro: 30-minute video call with the Talent Team to discuss the role and your experience.First Interview: 60-minute video call with one of our Principal Engineers and People Partner to delve into the role, including technical questions, company fit and an opportunity for you to ask questions.Case Study: A take-home task followed by a 60 minute in-person interview on Brighton with members of our Engineering Leadership team to run through your case study and discuss a resont project you’re proud of.What we offerOur budget for this role is £65,000 – £75,000 and your previous experience and expertise will be taken into account when agreeing on the final offer. We also offer all our employees stock options and we will pay into your pension monthly.
