It’s an opportunity to be part of something specialPurpose of the RoleThe Global Automation Engineering Senior Manager is a matrix leadership role within the Automation pillar of the Engineering Transformation and Innovation team, you will support the delivery of the automation strategy and provide deep technical expertise in manufacturing & operations automation and robotic solutions across the Haleon site network.This role aims to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and productivity across the sites by integrating advanced automation and robotic technologies such as Material Movement Automation (AGVs/AMRs), and Collaborative robot (Cobots) technologies.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and drive the deployment of a range of technical strategies and innovative solutions to drive compliance and competitiveness across the Supply Chain. This requires working across many adjacent functions including Tech, Manufacturing Excellence, Technical and Supply Chain.The breadth of technologies will include:Industrial Automation and Control SystemsSmart Automation: Robotics, Cobots, AGV’s/AMRsOT, IIoT, Operational Data Acquisition/ConnectivityPlay a deep strategic role in the identification of opportunities and the development and execution of the roadmap to drive the deployment of automation and next generation manufacturing technologies including Robotics, Automation and shop floor Data Acquisition/ConnectivityDefine best in class solutions and equipment specifications and vendors and work with Global teams (i.e. QSC Engineering, QSC Technical/Technology, QSC Procurement) to recommend standardization/reapplication for any new investments across QSCLead the Regional/Business Unit Automation Uplift workstream within the Engineering Transformation Programme to drive performance improvement across the manufacturing sites.Building organisational capability, promote and facilitate inter-site networking and the provision of Subject Matter Expertise to regions and sites as required.Provide technical evaluation, support and oversight of solutions and implementation models for multi-million-pound capital investments, (which will be managed by the Regions and the Sites) ensuring the best solutions are implemented seamlessly, to schedule and to budget.Maintaining and enhancing Engineering Standards related to Automation and digital & operational data systems, as well as building capability in this and adjacent topicsJob-Related ExperienceLeadership experience in a site-based automation engineering role.Practical knowledge and proven experience in the design, implementation, and management of industrial automation, material movement automation, and/or advanced robotic technologies such as cobots within a manufacturing environment.Experience in identifying opportunities and use cases and evaluating innovative technology solutions to drive productivity, safety, and quality improvements.Extensive experience in project and programme management, including implementing new technologies, automation and robotic solutions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Experience working in a matrix organization and influencing engineering activities at manufacturing sites with multiple priorities.Experience managing supplier relationships.Knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards related to automation and robotics.Knowledge of GMP requirements and regulatory requirements.Education and Key RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Automation, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics/Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent industrial experience will be considered.Knowledge of Material Movement Automation (AGVs/AMRs), Robotics/Cobots, and other advanced robotic technologies.Strong understanding of the state of manufacturing operations, automation and digital technology and innovation across the FMCH / FMCG industries.Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities with an innovative mindset to drive changes and enhance process to drove efficiency, safety, and productivity across the manufacturing environment.Effective influencing skills, with the capability to influence both technical and non-technical business leaders across various business units and sites.Ability to convey and explain technical content to a non-technical audience.Ability to work in a complex and multi-cultural environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong Business acumen.Care to join us.
