It’s an opportunity to be part of something special.We have a new role for a Global Social & Environmental Sustainability Lead as a full-time permanent position.This role is part of Haleon’s Global Sustainability team, and reports into the Global Sustainability Director who is responsible for embedding Sustainability into our core business strategy: informing business planning processes, and influencing portfolio, innovation, brands positioning and commercial strategy.We work as the main point of contact on all things Sustainability with our core business functions: our brand and category teams and our Business Units. We create a link between all the different functions and the other parts of the Sustainability team to draw on subject matter expertise and provide deeply-informed guidance to help the business deliver bold, industry-leading initiatives, which do good while doing good business. We look after both the environmental and social aspects of sustainability.About the roleAt Haleon we are a business led by our purpose: to deliver better everyday health with humanity.We do this every day through our products and services, in Oral Health, over-the-counter pain and respiratory medicine, and with vitamins, minerals and supplements, which improve the health of people worldwide.With such a Purpose, running a responsible business is a strategic imperative that needs to be hard-wired into how we do business. This role will focus on embedding with our commercial functions (Customer Management and Sales) and creating synergies with our Corporate Affairs colleagues.In all your projects, you will work to create a network across those key functions to push sustainability agendas into all parts of our business, and embed them into core plans. This is a role where influencing, convincing and on-boarding will be critical and where you will need to create the opportunities for these sustainability initiatives before facilitating their implementation.Role and ResponsibilitiesSupport BU and country Commercial Excellence teams to develop, pilot and scale up partnerships with our retailers to leverage brand Purpose programmes and Sustainability claims to create competitive advantage. You will do this by disseminating best practice and building capability across geographies (both modern and traditional trade, and ideally also expert channels like pharmacies).Lead on environmental health: Climate change is causing new health needs across the world. Haleon wants to better respond to these changing needs, both through communication and activation (e.g. building health literacy) and through innovation (products that address the specific new health needs). You will be tasked to map out the strategy for Haleon in this space, at a Corporate level, joining the dots between Corporate Affairs, Coms, the Haleon Corporate brand team, and with our brand, Category and BU Marketing teams.Work with Corporate Affairs to create synergies between policy projects and brand sustainability projects, looking to combine policy with behaviour change and Purpose projects to maximise health and commercial impact.Why you?What are we looking for?Bachelor’s degree – or equivalent.A proven background in the field of brand sustainability, preferably within FMCG or the Healthcare industry.Extensive experience working with Customers / Retailers, especially activating product sustainability and brand Purpose initiatives, with both business and sustainability / social impact results. Ideally, you will have developed longer-term strategic partnerships with retailers, going beyond tactical opportunities.Experience working with Corporate Affairs and Coms functions to develop initiatives that build corporate reputation.Extensive experience with stakeholder engagement, especially with core business functions (Marketing, Sales, Customer Development), as well as with Corporate Affairs teams and external stakeholders (NGOs…).A track record of successfully delivering multi-faceted strategic projects with the ability to manage and develop several projects concurrently.Consumer-centricity: a track record of leading initiatives based on deep human needs.Additional/Preferred experience:If you possess the following in addition to the above, it would be a plus:Preferred: master’s degree – or equivalent – in a related field.Confident to counsel and present to senior stakeholders on a strategic level.Works autonomously, sets a high bar for work outputs, proactively manages own workstreams and deliverables, flags challenges where required, and delivers on time and on budget.Experience expert marketing in Healthcare and/or expert channels (e.g. pharmacies) will be a plus.Experience working with Corporate Affairs on advancing Advocacy projects will be a plus.Experience and understanding across Healthcare/self-care issues and/or DEI issues.Please take a copy of the Job Description, as this will not be available post closure of the advert.When applying for this role, please use the ‘cover letter’ of the online application or your CV to describe how you meet the competencies for this role, as outlined in the job requirements above.
