Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.You’ll be working on M&E and EPC projects on behalf of National Grid in Wales and South West England.This is an exciting opportunity for you to become part of a highly respected Net Zero focused company, with opportunities to progress.We offer training programmes to help employees progress. You could become a resident engineer or site supervisor/manager if that’s what you are looking for!What will you be doing?Are you ready to take on exciting challenges and grow your skills in a dynamic work environment?We are looking for dedicated people with a passion for construction and a readiness to learn.Key responsibilities include:
- Civil installations at high voltage substations (earthworks, drainage, ducting, trough systems)
- Construct RC foundations, concrete footpaths, security fencing
- Operate plant machinery (rollers, dumpers, excavators)
- Undertake safe dig techniques (Cat & Genny)
- Install temporary works for deep drainage (cess tanks, oil separators, pumping stations, manhole/catchpit chambers)
- Manage documentation for permits and safety
- Gain experience and competency to handle NG safety documents
What you’ll bring
- Experience with National Grid and high voltage substations preferred
- Must be 18+ years old (company health & safety policy)
- Full driving licence required; transport provided
- Previous civil engineering experience essential
- Enthusiasm for outdoor work
- Ability to work in a team; understanding of teamwork importance
- High degree of manual dexterity with hand tools
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to work in confined spaces without restriction
- Willingness to undertake physically demanding work in all weather conditions
- Willing to travel nationwide and stay away as required (hotels and meals paid for)
