Job description:Group Leader/ Senior Principal – Traffic Engineering – ( 250000D3 )DescriptionAbout the roleStantec’s Transport Planning and Advisory team partners with its clients to provide traffic and transport solutions for the community and we are currently seeking a Group Leader/ Senior Principal to join our team based in St. Leonards.In this role, you will leverage your advanced expertise in Traffic Engineering to lead the delivery of high-quality, technically sound projects that meet both client expectations and Stantec’s standards for profitability, scheduling, and quality. You will be responsible for providing strategic technical direction, ensuring that all traffic engineering solutions are innovative, efficient, and aligned with best practices.Additionally, you will play a key role in building and maintaining strong client relationships, identifying and securing new business opportunities to drive the growth of the group. Your deep understanding of traffic engineering principles will be critical in positioning Stantec as a leader in the field, ensuring client satisfaction and fostering long-term partnerships.As a senior leader, you will also provide team leadership and project prioritization, mentoring staff, and ensuring the successful execution of projects. Your technical expertise will be central in guiding the team to achieve optimal project outcomes, balancing technical rigor with commercial success.The Group Leader position is a function, in addition to technical/ project contribution role as Senior Principal.Day to day tasks would involve:Technical Expertise and Project Execution

  • Conduct comprehensive technical assessments, demonstrating advanced knowledge and expertise in Transportation and Traffic Engineering including but not limited to RSA, TIA, CTMP, CTM, EIS, REF
  • Lead the execution and delivery of projects, ensuring adherence to technical standards, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
  • Oversee project management activities, ensuring high-quality deliverables and compliance with industry best practices.

Business Development and Client Relationship Management

  • Drive commercial success by developing and maintaining strong relationships with key clients, ensuring client satisfaction and fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within the transportation engineering sector.
  • Assist in the formulation and execution of strategic business development plans, contributing to the company’s growth and market positioning.

Leadership and Team Development

  • Participate actively in project and team meetings, providing specialized traffic engineering expertise and guidance.
  • Mentor and support the professional development of technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.

Operational and Performance Management

  • Support the Business Leader in monitoring and reporting on team performance, contributing to the preparation of annual business plans and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure optimal team utilization through effective forecasting, workload management, and delegation of tasks.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a healthy project backlog through strategic networking and business development activities.
