Join us on this exciting journey as we strive to shape the future of education, one student at a time.OverviewThe Head of Operations plays a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery and expansion of in-person summer programmes throughout the United Kingdom. This individual is responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of multiple summer school sites, coordinating with a head office team of Area Managers who each manage individual locations. These managers handle the day-to-day operations, troubleshooting, and staff management of their respective sites, with the overarching support and guidance from the Head of Operations.We are looking for an ambitious and motivated individual who understands that delivery periods require full commitment and sustained effort. During the peak operational period, the Head of Operations will be on emergency call for all UK summer schools, and must be prepared to provide a high level of out-of-hours management support to summer school centre managers and the rest of the head office team. Our ideal candidate is someone with a background in the education industry, with prior experience overseeing multi-location programme delivery, who understands the challenges of the summer school environment and is capable of making tough decisions whilst under pressure.Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the successful delivery of all summer school programmes in the UK
  • Ensure all operational aspects of the programmes are executed to a high standard, including logistics, safeguarding and staff training
  • Create the annual operational plan and ensure task completion deadlines are met
  • Oversee the budget for all UK locations and ensure all costs are kept within the approved budget
  • Line manage a team of operations managers and support staff
  • Liaise with internal commercial departments to provide updates on programme availability and capacity
  • First point of contact in situations requiring crisis management, ready to solve unexpected issues that arise during the active summer months
  • Act as the safeguarding lead for all UK programmes

Requirements

  • Proven experience in multi-location operations management, ideally within an educational or residential setting
  • Demonstrable experience in leading and developing teams, including hiring, training, and performance management of staff
  • Expertise in managing large budgets, with a proven track record of efficient resource allocation and financial planning
  • Experience in developing and expanding programmes, including strategic planning and implementation
  • Ability to handle emergencies and unexpected situations effectively, ensuring the safety and continuity of operations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, necessary for leading a diverse team and liaising with multiple departments and external partners
  • Capable of managing the fluctuating demands of a seasonal educational programme and adapting strategies as necessary.
