  • Occupational Health & Safety Certificate/Program graduate (degree or diploma)
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification
  • 7+ years experience as a Safety professional in an industrial environment
  • Knowledgeable in Occupational Health and Safety legislation
  • Passionate about creating and implementing Health and Safety programs with the ability to get buy in from all employees through interpersonal skills

We also continue to invest in ways to further our commitment to a culture of health and safety – for everyone, by everyone, and in everything we do.Under the supervision of the General Plant Manager, the Health and Safety Manager is responsible for supervising the Health and Safety Coordinator, as well as overseeing the Health and Safety program and staff across the mill. They are the driver of Health and Safety initiatives around the mill and champions safety culture.Job Duties:

  • Promote leadership, continuous improvement, and implementation of Health and Safety programs, practices, and procedures.
  • Initiate and maintain programs, ensuring compliance with objectives, policy, and government regulations pertaining to Occupational Health & Safety
  • Support the Health and Safety Coordinator with inspections/audits and identify corrective actions where needed, ensuring timely implementation and documentation.
  • Collaborate with business partners on installations, special projects, change management, defining positional and regulatory training objectives, etc.
  • Works collaboratively with HR team on special projects/initiatives, employee relations/workplace culture, resourcing and onboarding requirements, job accommodation
  • Alongside stakeholders, develops and manages implementation of Strategic Plan (Corporate directives, mill’s goals/objectives; COR audit, UL audit, etc.)
  • Supervisor and mentor Health & Safety Coordinator
  • Promotes a culture of prevention focused on individual and collective responsibility for occupational health and safety within the organization
  • Responsible for meeting reporting requirements (semi-internal/corporate; external)
  • Manages Safety budget, expenses, capital requests
  • Oversees administration of H&S Programs
