With our main office based in Milton Keynes, and with other locations in Edinburgh.About the roleWe are looking to recruit an experienced SHEQ Manager in the UK renewable energy industry, ideally across both onshore wind (required) and solar PV (desirable), The role can be based in the Edinburgh, Glasgow or Milton Keynes office, but will entail extensive travel to other offices and to sites located throughout the UK & Ireland, and on occasion to other BayWa r.e. sites I offices worldwide.The successful candidate will report directly to the UK Head of Health, Safety, Quality and Environment. The role entails staying up to date with guidance regarding HSE topics relevant for the UK portfolio of projects, to ensure that BayWa r.e.’s policies, guidance and implementation is updated to reflect regulatory changes and evolving best practice, and to support their monitoring of the activities over the full project life cycle (project development, construction and operations) to ensure we operate in a safe, responsible and sustainable manner.What you will doSupporting the Managing Directors and Head of Health, Safety, Quality and Environment to ensure the IMS and company policies are maintained and updated.Monitoring and auditing activities to ensure works are carried out under this IMS and in compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental Regulations.Support project managers and subcontractors in implementing and adhering to the IMS.Arrange training, where necessary, on aspects of the IMS.Liaise with consultants who may be engaged from time to time to further develop the IMS.Carry out Safety Walks on the company portfolio’s.Provide support in creation and review of Risk assessments and developing the preventative and proactive measures and the control measures associated with.Conduct internal audits & audit on subcontractor activities (covering site surveys, construction work and electrical and mechanical maintenance, LV, HV, DC & AC).Conduct IMS audits both internal and by subcontractor.Review audit findings with the Project Managers and support closure of action items.Support the Managing Directors, Head of Health, Safety, Quality and Environment and respective Department leads in carrying out investigations into any Hazardous Observations I Near Misses or incidents that may occur on any of the projects, reporting findings and monitoring corrective actions.Maintain and collect health and safety statistics at legal entity and project level, analysing and reporting trends to Project Managers, UK Operations Manager and Managing Directors.Maintain records to demonstrate ongoing compliance with IMS & relevant ISO accreditation(s).Support responsible departments to establish an adequate HSE subcontractor management.Support responsible departments on Client and Key Stakeholder monthly/ Quarterly HSE reporting and meetings.Support sales and marketing to meet HSE expectations of customers.Keep abreast of developments in good practice and regulations and advise UK Head of Operations/ Managing Directors as appropriate.Reporting to the UK Head of Health, Safety, Quality and Environment and Client.What you’ll need to succeedNEBOSH National General Certificate.NEBOSH National Construction Certificate.Proven track record in Health and Safety in Wind farms and or Solar parks.Proven track record in managing compliance with CDM 2015.Knowledge of Operations/ Construction of Wind/ PV business.Electrical background an advantage.Enthusiasm for subject area and ability to motivate others to by-in to processes and procedures.Customer oriented.Attention to detail, particularly in terms of record keeping and documentation.Logical thinker and clear communicator.Solutions focused with a practical approach to problem solving.Excellent personal skills and ability to build trust and respect within teams.Self – motivated and energetic.Ability to work closely and effectively with an international team and clients.Strong written and oral communication skills.Good IT skills in word I excel.Naturally well prepared and organised, able to deal with competing priorities, manage a diverse workload and meet targets and deadlines.Clean drivers licence.Eligibility to work in the UK.What’s in it for you?Being part of a highly motivated ever-growing and multicultural team that drives forward the energy revolutionInnovative and fast-changing market and working environmentHybrid WorkingPrivate Health InsuranceLife Assurance CoverCompany Pension SchemeFlexible Working EnvironmentYearly Discretionary Performance Bonus SchemeMental Health First Aid supportEmployee Assistance Programme which provides all employees with 24/7 access to telephone and online counsellingAccess to an online benefits portal which includes travel and shopping discounts, healthy living advice & a financial well-being resource bankBenefits can vary depending on the location and are not legally binding.About BayWa r.e.BayWa r.e. is the home for change makers.
