  • To operationally lead the healthier lifestyles team in public health delivering behavioural programmes based on public health priorities including NHS Health checks.
  • Required to travel across Somerset.
  • This role is Hybrid working comprising frequent community and office working with some home-based work. Office work will be largely based at County Hall in Taunton. Flexible working welcomed with the occasional evening or weekend work.
  • Annual leave entitlement for this grade is 30 days.
  • This is a 3 year fixed term appointment.

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Supporting the healthier lifestyle service manager in implementation of service objectives including NHS health checks and healthy conversations training.
  • Lead and manage a team of health improvement and health check practitioners to deliver on a range of community, workplace and training initiatives aligned to relevant public health priorities.
  • Develop effective partnership and engagement approaches for innovative delivery with primary care, voluntary and community sector and local population groups.

  • Are experienced in line management, supporting and developing a team.
  • Are experienced in project management and achieving positive outcomes.
  • Have experience of developing strong and effective relationships with health and community partners.
  • Have an understanding of public health programmes such as NHS Health checks, healthy eating, weight management and physical activity.
