Reports to: Program DirectorStatus: Part Time, HourlyWage: $17.00-19.00/hourMISSION:The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.GENERAL DESCRIPTION:This position supports the mission and operations of Scouting America, Orange County Council and the Ed Laird Scout Camp at the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center. They are primarily responsible for the recruiting, hiring, interviewing, selecting, and onboarding new and returning staff. The Hiring Asstistant should have a strong background in CA hiring practices and Scouting America.REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 21 years of age
- College degree (required) in education, recreation, youth development, or relevant field (preferred).
- Currently registered with or willing to be registered with Scouting America.
- Minimum two (2) years of management, recruiting, hiring, or human resources experience preferred.
- Knowledge of seasonal employment practices specifically for the camp setting.
JOB DUTIES
- Find and attend recruiting events for seasonal, part-time, and full-time applicants.
- Schedule and set up interviews with candidates and hiring teams.
- Lead interviews to evaluate candidates’ qualifications, cultural fit, and enthusiasm for our mission.
- Collaborate with program directors to review candidate qualifications and make final hiring decisions.
- Prepare and coordinate offer letters, communicate job offers, and finalize start dates with new hires.
- Facilitate the initial onboarding process, including reviewing and processing new hire paperwork to ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Participates in IROEC and Scouting America Orange County Council staff meetings, training, and enhancement activities.
- Maintain and uphold standard operating procedures
- Support the overall operations of Scouting America Orange County Council.
ADDITIONAL SKILLSETS
- Basic computer literacy, including usage of Microsoft Office products and electronic record systems.
- Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS).
- Ability to communicate clearly, positively, and professionally with others.
- Ability to think critically and prioritize when given multiple assigned tasks.
- Ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Bi-lingual (preferred)
