Primary Objective:The Westman Youth for Christ (WYFC) Housing Director will manage the day-to-day operations of Westman Youth for Christ Housing Programs. This includes overseeing staff engagement, programming, volunteers, and fiscal reporting.The Housing Director reports to the Westman Youth for Christ Executive Director.All Common Spaces, Uturn and Housing First staff/volunteers reports to the Housing Director.KEY MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBLITIES (63%)SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT

  • Ensure proper supervision and engagement is in place for the Housing teams including have a working knowledge of vacancies, intakes, and move in/outs.
  • Make oneself available to and meet regularly with the housing and administration teams making sure work is being completed to Westman Youth for Christ standards and policies.
  • Providing support at times where there is a high volume of work to the Youth for Christ team.
  • Ensure Housing First Fidelity and HIFIS, rent tracker documentation/reporting is completed.
  • Attend Shared Health/Coordinated access meetings as scheduled.

SUPERVISING STAFF

  • This position is required to operate at a program leadership level and network with a wide range of staff.
  • Ensuring the provision of onboarding, training, mentoring, spiritual guidance, and prayer with and for all youth workers, volunteers, youth interns participating in ministry areas.
  • Facilitate ministry area meetings.
  • Providing counsel and mentorship to staff based upon Christian values and teachings of Jesus Christ.

HUMAN RESOURCES

  • Oversee the operations of the housing department. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Ensure the Westman Youth for Christ policy manual is implemented and reviewed with the staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure all new hires are filling positions that have been previously approved or requested, reviewed, and approved by the Executive Director prior to recruitment and hiring.
  • Communicate with Executive manager / HR to ensure emails, laptops, passwords etc are available.
  • Advise the Leadership on upcoming and current H.R. concerns.
  • Work with the Executive Director and Executive Manager/ HR on progressive discipline and terminations.

FACILITIES

  • Ensure all aspects of the WYFC Program Housing facilities needs are communicated and logged in a timely manner.
  • Ensure proper reporting and accountability of any maintenance and cleaning staff.
  • Oversee purchase of general cleaning supplies for programs.
  • Meet with Administration to review income and expenses, ensuring that rents are collected, and expenses go through proper approval process.
  • Complete reimbursements on a biweekly basis.
  • Advise Executive Director on any upcoming or current facility concerns, whether property, tenants or budgetary.
  • Ensure proper management and usage of shelter, including communication and planning of usage, cleaning, repairs and finance.

RISK MANAGEMENT

  • Ensure proper use and control of keys to all Common Spaces and Uturn facilities and vehicles, as well as the FOB access door security system, the WYFC video surveillance system, and the Monitoring Alarm system.
  • Ensure all facility keys, codes and FOBs are assigned to appropriate staff and documented properly.

VEHICLES

  • Ensure there is proper cleaning, oil changes and fuel fill ups done for the WYFC fleet of vehicles used by Housing Programs

ACCOUNTING/FINANCE

  • In partnership with the Financial Lead, regularly review Housing program and staff operating expenses with the Executive Director and keep them regularly informed of housing’s financial status / position.
  • Together with the Financial Lead, ensure proper financial reporting is completed (Reaching Home, Shared Health, United Way.

LEADING MINISTRY PROGRAMS (5%)

  • Implement the overall ministry.
  • Engage in evangelism and discipleship.
  • Provide guidance and discipline to program participants.
  • Participate in planning and off-site opportunity.

MEETINGS (7%)

  • Meet with supervisor regularly.
  • Attend Westman Youth for Christ team meetings.
  • Meet with Leadership team regularly.
  • Develop and nurture strong working relationships with other agencies and ministries.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS (10%)

  • Participate in recruiting volunteers.
  • Provide prayer support, nurture, and encouragement for volunteers.
  • Communicate to parents/caregivers of participants involved in programming.
  • Represent Westman Youth for Christ positively to the community.
  • Develop and nurture strong working relationships with other agencies and ministries.

PARTNER DEVELOPMENT (5%)

  • Personal and ministry area partnership development – which includes securing and maintaining a sound base of financial & prayer partners to a level sufficient to fund the salary and immediate costs of this position, along with the ministry area.
  • Gathering financial and prayer support from the community.
  • Build a base of prayer partners and keep them updated through regular communications and prayer requests.
  • Encourage prayer partners to pray for youth in Westman and globally.

SPIRITUAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT (5%)

  • Is a faithful and contributing member of a local church.
  • Pray for and with WYFC Team.
  • Spend time in spiritual reflection and development.
  • Attend Youth for Christ Regional and National conferences as per policy.
  • Participate in training and development courses, conferences and workshops as approved by supervisor.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Relevant post-secondary degree and relevant experience in leading and managing a team and working with underserved populations
  • Applicants must reflect on and sign the WYFC Statement of Faith and Community Covenant
  • Precision, detail-oriented, patience, creativity, flexibility, compassion, and sensitivity to all persons and able to exercise discretion, compassion, and empathy, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Effective interpersonal and time-management skills.
  • A confident self-starter, able to meet challenges, and to overcome obstacles.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous populations, the impact of colonization on Canada’s Indigenous peoples, the historical and continuing impact of the residential school system, and traditional Indigenous healing and wellness beliefs, practices, and support agencies are an asset.
  • An understanding of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, mental heal disorders, trauma response, etc. is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of local mental health and addictions system and community services an asset.
  • First Aid/CPR, ASIST, Mental Health First Aid, De-escalating Potentially Violent Situation training are required for this position and considered assets upon application
  • Must pass criminal record check, child abuse registry check and vulnerable sector check.
