Our client, a well-established construction company located in Ville Saint-Laurent, is seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Director to lead all aspects of human resources management and play a key role in shaping the company’s culture, policies, and talent strategy.The HR Director will oversee all human resource functions, ensuring compliance with employment laws and fostering a positive, productive work environment. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, solutions-focused, and experienced in managing HR within the construction or related industries, particularly in unionized environments. This is a strategic leadership role requiring both high-level planning and day-to-day operational oversight.Key Responsibilities:– Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company’s goals and growth plans.
– Oversee the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, and offboarding.
– Manage all HR functions in a unionized environment, including maintaining positive labor relations and ensuring compliance with collective agreements.
– Serve as the primary liaison with union representatives and participate in negotiations, grievance resolution, and contract administration.
– Ensure compliance with provincial and federal labor laws, health and safety regulations, and construction industry standards.
– Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and employee handbook updates.
– Lead workforce planning efforts to support project staffing needs.
– Manage compensation and benefits programs to attract and retain top talent.
– Foster a positive and inclusive company culture, promoting employee engagement and development.
– Handle conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans.
– Partner with management to identify training needs and implement development programs.
– Lead Health & Safety programs in collaboration with the HSE team to ensure a safe work environment.
– Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on all HR matters.
– Oversee HR metrics and reporting to provide data-driven insights to management.Qualifications:– Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
– Minimum of 5+ years of HR experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
– Significant experience working in unionized environments, including interpretation, application, and negotiation of collective agreements.
– Experience in the construction, manufacturing, or industrial sectors strongly preferred.
– Strong knowledge of Quebec labor laws, construction industry regulations, and CNESST requirements.
– Proven experience developing HR strategies in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
– Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and hands-on approach.
