Hiring Manager: Market Data Manager – Asset Management

We’re a FTSE 100 organisation that is tackling key issues such as transitioning our portfolio to net zero by 2050, and we’re not done yet.Team ContextLocated within the newly-formed Policyholder Middle Office team, the role will have responsibility for supporting the provision of services to various functions within Asset Management and beyond in respect of Indices and Policyholder Funds.Middle Office is a key support function for the Asset Management Front Office. It has wide-ranging accountability ensuring operational control of investment activities, supporting the Group and AM Governance framework and delivery of investment reporting.Phoenix has recently launched several bespoke indices for use across our policyholder funds in both equities and fixed income. As the organisation scales its investment capabilities and customises investment propositions, we are looking to build a strong operational unit to develop and support the oversight model and governance of these products.The RoleReporting to the Senior Index Operations Lead and working closely with Data Management, the role will support Phoenix Asset Management’s growing suite of Climate Indices with a focus on business data requirements, ensuring that the data required is loaded into this core systems Aladdin and INVista, and that effective controls are in place and followed to maintain data quality. The goal of Data Management is to embed ‘data as an asset’ within the culture of the function to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet the overall Asset Management needs and thereby enabling Asset management to become truly a data driven function.In addition, the Index Operations Analyst will provide support across the Policyholder Middle Office team where required to meet deliverables during periods of increased demand, building their skillset to become a ‘Subject Matter Expert’ and key operational support resource across the Middle Office, for Asset Management and our stakeholders.This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to be part of a growing capability in this new and specialised area of Asset Management within the Phoenix Group, where versatility and resilience are essential to ensure the success of the team.Key ResponsibilitiesData Management
- Support Static Data Management processes by validating data and inputting into core Asset Management platforms, Blackrock Aladdin and INVista.
- Support the Index Research & Development process with index data requirements and analysis.
- Support information required for reporting of data management data quality across our Climate Indices
- Supporting Classification, Industry Sector and Strategic Asset Allocation data.
- Running daily, weekly and monthly reconciliation processes.
Support
- Contribution towards the successful running of both the Climate Indices and Policyholder functions.
- Support activities such as fund launches/rationalisations/closures, implementing rebalancing in-line with benchmarks, modernisation of existing fund range and associated ad-hoc tasks.
- Follow documented business processes, contributing to enhancing the documentation, controls and oversight framework on an ongoing basis.
- High regard for accuracy, understanding the importance of actions and data being accurate, timely and to a high standard.
- Supporting the business with ad-hoc fund and data queries.
What we’re looking forMinimum RequirementsExperience (Esssential)
- Analytical skills with strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to follow current processes and controls and understand the risk factors
- Ability to pro-actively challenge processes and raise control concerns, as well as contribute to mitigation, coupled with good problem-solving skills
- Communication skills to interact with internal and external other stakeholders, with good influencing and presentation skills
- Ability to work to tight timescales within a high energy team environment
Desirable
- Experience with security master management in Blackrock Aladdin
- Indices (equities and/or Fixed Income) operational aspects, within the Asset Management industry
- Data Management principles within a Financial Services environment
- Market Data (Trading, Index & Benchmark, ESG, Company Fundamentals, Research & Ratings, Fund Flows) and Reference Data (instrument/markets/counterparty identifiers, security classification/categorisation, corporate actions, transactions and settlement)
Skills & Personal Attributes
- Experience in a data discipline particularly Data Management & Data Quality
- Proactive and adaptive within a constant changing environment, with the ability to work autonomously and collaborate with various teams
Qualifications
- It is not essential to have been educated to degree level or equivalent
