This position provides leadership, report writing, financial management, program management, project maintenance, program coordination, and monitoring of ASP programs, services and partnerships.MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES * Supervises ASP coordinators and work study students including planning, scheduling, organizing and providing feedback to staff.

  • Coordinate Indigenous organizations and community partnership contracts to ensure ASP funds and projects meet TRU and Advanced Education and Skills Training (AEST) requirements.
  • Supervises, creates, and recommends best practices for internal financial and ASP requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Supervises, manages and executes the signing of ASP contracts and documents ensure they adhere to TRU policies and procedures.
  • Provides research and project report writing by collecting, analyzing and organizing information to meet the ASP reporting requirements established by AEST. Drafts, revises, and edits ASP reports.
  • Prepares financial reports specifically for the ASP and for TRU Finance. Provides specific financial reporting for AEST in accordance with required deadlines from TRU and AEST.
  • Assists with the year-end ASP budget and reporting activities for the ASP.
  • Initiates and monitors Purchase Orders (POs) and Professional Services Agreements (PSAs) and ensures timely submission and follow-up of Accounts Receivable/Payable associated with the ASP.
  • Leads in the tracking and monitoring of expenditures as they relate to the ASP and communication with TRU Finance.
  • Supervision and maintenance of the ASP budget and codes using TRU systems.
  • Liaises with TRU departments, faculty, student support services and regional campuses regarding ASP programs.
  • Liaises with Indigenous organizations regarding information, support, and communication related to the ASP.

Executive Director for Indigenous EducationQUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION:

  • Relevant undergraduate degree

EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) years relevant Indigenous Education or community experience, including but not limited to the following:
  • Government report writing, financial reporting and accounting systems
  • Indigenous programs and service delivery
  • Indigenous Education programs and training

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated working knowledge and experience working with Indigenous communities
  • Familiar with BC First Nations, Metis and Inuit communities.\
  • Ability to supervise, train and mentor others, including prioritizing, scheduling and assigning workloads
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with staff and the public with courtesy, tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to exercise independent decision making
  • Advanced knowledge and experience working with Office 365 processes
  • Ability to work successfully in a diverse and fast-paced learning environment
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality with sensitive information
  • Knowledge and experience in financial reporting and report writing
  • Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Sitting at desk and computer for periods of time
  • General office conditions
  • Some travel will be required
