Job Description

The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of the state agencies through a variety of services including Information Technology project delivery, maintenance and support. This position is with the Chief Technology Office (CTO) of DTMB.

This position manages the resources of the Michigan Cloud Provider (MCP) section within Platform, Design and Support Services (PDSS) Design Services. This area provides and supports solutioning, design, infrastructure as code (IAC) and deployment of resources in the cloud service provider environments for application infrastructure requested by State of Michigan Agencies. The MCP manager directs technical staff responsible for highly complex activities, such as solutioning of application architecture, creating and maintaining IAC and code repository, configuration of policies and process methodologies to ensure the State’s applications and infrastructure are functioning properly. The team performs Level 3 triage and diagnostic activities in order to assist application owners with resolving application infrastructure and service issues. Under the direction of the PDSS-DS State Administrative Manager, this individual must apply their knowledge of technology to develop and implement creative approaches to the management of system resources and information processing service delivery. These services are critical to State government and are essential to the citizens and businesses within Michigan.

This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $3,500. Up to $1,750 to be paid upon new hire and the remainder to be paid after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period (12-month period). This does not apply to current state employees.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Possession of a bachelor’s degree with not less than 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, project management, or mathematics.

Experience

Information Technology Project Manager 14

Three years of professional experience equivalent to an IT project coordinator.

Alternate Education and Experience

Information Technology Project Manager 14

Possession of a Project Management Professional, (PMP) certification may be substituted for the experience requirement. Possession of a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and/or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certification may be substituted for 1 year of the experience requirement.

Possession of SUITE Certification may be substituted for 2 Educational Credits.

Vacation and Sick Leave:Eligible full-time employees receive between15 and 35 personal daysand 13 sick daysper year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
