Salary: $24.99 – $38.45About the Innovative Learning Department at Humber:Innovative Learning (IL) is Humber’s centre for teaching and learning. IL is dedicated to developing and enhancing teaching innovation and learning across the institution. The department provides a place for conversation and inspiration, to energize and mobilize innovative and evidence-informed teaching practices. It serves as a hub for the Humber community, supporting its vision as a polytechnic education leader.IL is comprised of two key areas that each play a strategic role in developing, delivering, and assessing Humber’s learning innovation ecosystem – Teaching Excellence and Digital Learning. The activities undertaken by this team align with the strategic and academic objectives of the institution at large while responding to the individual needs of faculty at different stages of experience designing and delivering inclusive and accessible learning experiences.About the Instructional Design Technologist Role:Utilizing technology and sound pedagogical theory to support the transfer of content from course templates to online learning online environments.

  • Moving from FTF (face to face) to Online: Build course outline to match an online approach
  • Designing for the online environment: Use a lesson plan template, engage in tutorials and training
  • Familiar with Humber’s LMS system, Blackboard (Bb), Articulate Platform and Microsoft Office 365: Review features and functions for learning and teaching, including both asynchronous and synchronous tools that are designed for teaching and learning activities
  • Formatting a course: Create modular sessions for the course, including activities, formative, and summative assessments
  • Utilizing established course materials: Assemble content and resources – free, licensed, or OER resources, and with Library support – content, video, media
  • Ensuring Accessibility: Make the course accessible – use Bb Ally tool to assess, ALS support for accommodations
  • Checking usability: Review online course from student perspective and remediate any deficiencies
  • Launching the course: Welcome students, interact with IL team members for support, direct students to support resources

  • 4-year post-secondary education in a relevant field such as instructional technology and design, education.

Experience/Skills:

  • 3 years instructional design experience and/or teaching experience.
  • Experience working with online platforms such as Blackboard preferred, the Articulate Platform.
  • Ability to maximize technology to enhance student learning and meet AODA standards.
