Job Summary:

  1. Molecular studies, including genetic, epigenetic, and proteomic analyses using transfection or knockdown/knockout of genes

  2. Metabolomics analysis

  3. Cellular biological assays to study melanocytes

  4. Immunological studies

  5. Animal experiments

  6. Multi-color FACS analysis and sorting

  7. Planning experiments

  8. Analyzing and interpreting data

  9. Troubleshooting experiments

  10. Summarizing data for a weekly discussion, lab meeting (every 2-3 months), or a national or international conference

  11. Supervise and teach students, PRAs, and other fellows

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a PhD in one of these fields of study: Biochemistry, pharmacology, Dermatology, or other related disciplines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experiences in cancer biology and stem cells

  • Receiving travel awards to attend meetings

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in melanocyte biology is required.

  • Experience in regenerative medicine is required.

  • Experience and knowledge in skin biology are required.

  • Experience in working with small animal models is required.

  • Prior successful working experience using various molecular and cellular biology techniques.

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Computer software, equipment operation, or research skills

  • Ability to handle and process detail-oriented documentation and meet designated research deadlines.

  • Must be team-oriented, flexible, able to communicate, and develop projects in a new direction.

The Instructor position is offered in Dr. Mayumi Fujita’s laboratory through the Department of Dermatology. The main emphasis of this position will be working in the research areas of toxic metabolites in the skin.The candidate will perform the investigation as follows: Studying the role and mechanisms of toxic metabolites in regulating melanocyte activation and transformation, using in vitro and in vivo modelsSpecific duties include:
