A direct and timely information and communication service provided to the Article 5 developing countries through OzonAction regional networks.Work LocationHOME BASEDExpected duration10 monthsDuties and ResponsibilitiesThe United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.” Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. UNEP’s Law Division works with international and national partners, providing technical assistance and capacity development for the implementation of environmental policy, and strengthening the environmental management capacity of developing countries and countries with economies in transition. UNEP is an Implementing Agency of the Multilateral Fund of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. That role is discharged through the Law Division’s OzonAction Branch, whose goal is to enable developing countries to meet and sustain their compliance obligations under the treaty. OzonAction’s Compliance Assistance Programme (CAP) provides a range of services and project implementation support to assist those countries. In reference to UNEP OzonAction Clearinghouse mandate under Article 10 of Montreal Protocol and 2024 UNEP Business Plan and Compliance Assistance Programme’s budget, UNEP OzonAction Branch is providing information services and legal/policy and technical advice for National Ozone Officers (NOUs) and other stakeholders. The OzonAction Branch requires hiring an international consultant to implement the 2024 Compliance Assistance Programme’s Work Plan and specifically Output 5 “Key stakeholders and the public enthusiastically support national compliance programmes”. The consultant shall, inter alia, work on the following materials and activities: 1)Finalization of the global communication strategy 2024-2030 document and present a detailed workplan for the finalization and presentation of the strategy. 2)Presentation of the global communication strategy 2024-2030 to all CAP teams and stakeholders (Agencies and partners) and to the National Ozone Units. 3)Development, production and dissemination of communication and promotional materials to relevant target audiences. 4)Development of presentations to outreach and promote the global strategy during CAP implementation activities , e.g. network meetings, training workshops, media. 5)Creation and dissemination of digital content, establishment strategic partnerships collaborations, development crisis responses and communications.Qualifications/special skillsACADEMIC: ●Tertiary/University degree in journalism, marketing, design, public relations or equivalent areas. Required ●Master in Sustainable Development or fields related to it. Requiered More than ten years of working experience in development of public awareness/outreach programmes for targeted audiences, and, managing communication programmes, media and sensitization campaigns, including editing of publications on environmental matters. Experience in implementing awareness activities in the Montreal Protocol. Highly Desirable Experience in working with intergovernmental institutions. RequiredLanguagesEnglish and Spanish are among the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the services requiered, fluency in English is required.
