Job Summary/objective

IT Manager at the U.S. Army Garrison Kwajalein Atoll (USAG-KA) Reagan Test Site (RTS) in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. This position requires the management of a secure network of computers at the weather station on Kwajalein Island.

This position requires relocation to Kwajalein Island.  Due to limited housing, this position is unaccompanied.   The IRS considers Kwajalein as overseas employment, and employees will receive significant tax benefits. Kwajalein Island is like a small town, with some limitations. For example, although there are medical facilities there, they are not comprehensive. All candidates must be in good physical condition such as to not require routine, extensive medical treatment. Kwajalein Island has a population of about 1500 people, with a broad range of activities available ranging from water sports such as scuba diving, sailing, and fishing to a variety of local clubs and organizations. Required Experience and Skills:

  • BS in Information Technology or equivalent from an accredited institution; but relevant experience is an acceptable substitute;
  • At least 5 years of experience managing secure networks (Security+) in a mixed LINUX and Windows workstation environment;
  • Certifications: at least one of the following: CompTIA CASP+, ISACA CISM, ISC2 CISSP;
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Python, Tcl/Tk, Linux Shell, C programming, and MySQL database management;
  • An understanding of Department of Defense network security and management requirements;
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a security clearance

Essential Functions

  • Manage and when necessary, update/upgrade a secure network of PCs and computers in the weather station
  • Manage installation of new computers in remote locations and their data flow
  • Manage storage of large data sets from platforms such as meteorological satellites and radars
  • Maintain a high level of network security at all times

Physical Demands/Requirements

  • General fit for duty in a normal office environment.

Work Environment

  • Working in a tropical climate with wet season and dry seasons and little temperature variation between.
  • Work performed is mostly inside work.
