Advanced Systems Design is seeking a IT Project Manager for our client located in Montgomery, AL.

This position is onsite in Montgomery, AL, and requires in-person availability starting day 1. 

Job Overview:

  • Project Management Methodology: The IT PMO operates under a combination of both waterfall and agile methodologies. Although the methodology is flexible, there are established project management processes to ensure project success.

  • The IT PMO uses an in-house developed project management system to track key aspects of the project and produce required project documentation.

  • Our office is focused on cultivating a team environment, and the IT project manager has a vital role in bringing people together from different IT operational support units to achieve both minor tasks and overall project success.

  • A successful candidate will have a team mentality and enjoy working with others.

  • Serves as the IT lead for the project and responsible for the overall coordination, status reporting, and stability of project-oriented work efforts.

  • Works within the established IT project management framework to track project progress, produce required documentation, adhere to high quality standards, and meet customer expectations.

  • Supports and maintains responsibilities of IT projects, to include, but not limited to:

  • identifying/tracking scope, timelines, requirements, deliverables, tasks, risks, issues, changes, testing; reviewing both technical and non-technical documentation;

  • scheduling meetings;

  • and providing meeting notes and action items.

  • Responsible for coordinating communication, identifying and escalating issues, and making decisions as appropriate.

  • Ensures coordination, integration, security, and uptime.

  • Adheres to agency policy.

  • Works with cross-functional teams including: IT operations units (network, system administration, development, etc.); Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) business unit partners; and vendor partners. This is an individual contributor role without human resource management responsibilities (e.g., hiring, performance management).

  • The position reports to the manager of the IT Project Management Office.

  • Manages two projects of medium to high complexity with the potential for additional project assignments of low to medium priority.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of project management experience.

  • Must possess knowledge of and proficiency in project management processes.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly as applied to writing professional documents, email communication, sharing project information, and leading meetings.

  • Knowledge of general IT principles and technology as needed to comprehend material and communicate with technical and non-technical personnel.

  • Must possess knowledge of and proficiency in Microsoft suite of products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Typically has 3-5 years of IT work experience.

  • Experience with projects in multiple technologies and functions.

  • Experience managing projects with extended duration.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a variety of stakeholders and team members, including technical, business, and vendor partners.

  • Ability to build rapport and gain/maintain trust.

  • Utilizes skills in managing challenge, customer focus, collaboration, and professionalism.

  • Demonstrates discipline in learning and self-development.

  • Accepts and uses constructive feedback to make improvements.

Education Required:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in any major or equivalent work experience.

Education Preferred:

  • Project management certification or successful completion of a recognized project management curriculum.
