Join a team that has the environment down to a science.Your OpportunityNested within Stantec’s multiple disciplinary Human Environment team, our Engagement practitioners specialize in public, stakeholder, and regulatory engagement, engagement and consultation reporting, public facilitation, client relations, and record keeping.The successful candidate will support impact assessment projects, lead engagement activities, work on multi-disciplinary teams, and support our Indigenous Services and Socio-Economic team members. The ideal candidate has recent experience conducting project-specific engagement with the public, clients, and regulators in western Canada. We are looking for an individual with excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, and has comfort supporting or leading community-based activities. The successful candidate will work with our multidisciplinary teams to successfully deliver on project works while maintaining schedule and budget.Your Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the development and implementation of engagement and consultation plans for a variety of regulatory processesSupport engagement documentation processes (e.g., records of consultation)Prepare and synthesize meeting summariesParticipate in community-research programs involving workshops, focus groups and meetings, telephone and in-person interviews, and surveys (scalable to the size of project)Provide solution-based advice to team members and clients on socio-economic and engagement issuesProvide technical and regulatory support and guidance, including preparation of application and other materials, for projects from early planning stages, through regulatory processes and into and beyond constructionSupport the delivery of: regulatory roadmaps, application scoping, site selection studies, environmental assessments, permit applications, preparation of regulatory and technical sections of applications, managing information requests, and preparation and review of environmental management plansManage budgets and work scopeSupport proposal writingClient management, client communication and business developmentTechnical writing and report preparationPromote a strong health and safety culture and actively participate in Stantec’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment ProgramQualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsExperience attending a variety of environmental assessment related meetings and preparing meeting summaries (e.g., meeting minutes)Experience with community and public engagement activities (e.g. participating in open houses, supporting the development of engagement materials, writing engagement reports)Understanding of Canadian and provincial environmental assessment guidelines, legislation and regulationsExperience or exposure to preparing environmental assessments for industrial, infrastructure, and resource development projectsDemonstrated technical writing, presentation, and public speaking skillsFamiliarity with the fields of socio-economics and Indigenous Services and supporting engagement and/or socio-economic assessments of Indigenous communities is an asset.Willingness to travel for project workStrong organizational skills to document engagement activitiesStrong interpersonal skills to interact across a broad range of audiences/ technical backgrounds including internal and external clients and regulatory agenciesFluency with the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPointEducation and ExperienceUniversity degree in Sociology, Anthropology, Human Geography, resource Management, Planning, Environmental Health or related social or environmental sciences discipline is considered an asset.One to five years of relevant experience in environmental consulting, community and public engagement, social impact or related field.Must possess a valid driver’s license.Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
