You’ll have the opportunity to work remotely while also connecting with your colleagues at our Brighton office at least once a week, fostering a dynamic and supportive environment.You’ll be working on re-inventing insurance in exciting markets across multiple territories including the UK, US and the Netherlands, and new European countries as we expand.Supported by (and reporting to) the Motor Underwriting Manager, you’ll be joining a friendly team who believe in delivering highly innovative, data-led, sustainable insurance products by challenging everything they know about insurance.We value high performance and care deeply about making INSHUR feel like a place where everyone is building something really special, that we can all be proud of, and doing it with friends.What you’ll doAs a Junior Motor Underwriter you will support the underwriting strategy and ongoing development of our motor portfolio. You will work across Business As Usual tasks as well as helping identify areas to automate and innovate to help achieve our profitability & growth goals, working in close collaboration with the Customer Support, Sales and Technology teams. Working alongside peers who cover other products/territories, you will be working on initiatives to accelerate growth, profitability and to continually improve the customer lifecycle.We don’t have a checklist of skills – our hiring process is much more around aptitude and passion so don’t worry if you’ve not used a particular tool or checked off all the skills and experience listed below.That said, below is a guideline of skills for you to take a look at that we think would make you successful in this role.We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Have experience in product and underwriting in the personal or commercial motor insurance sector (we think this would be 1+ years).
  • Understand the insurance regulatory landscape well and are familiar with insurance market structures, market cycles and insurance operations, including compliance and regulatory issues.
  • Have a knowledge of the tools and models used in the underwriting process
  • An interest in how to develop underwriting guidelines whether or not there are reference guides to evaluate the exposures, historical data to evaluate loss potential or established rating bases for pricing.
  • Have worked in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver optimal results for the business, including insurers, suppliers and claims management companies.
  • Have an interest in developing policy wording / contract language and becoming comfortable consulting with Legal and Claims teams to determine intent of coverage language.
  • Have a good knowledge of data gathering and manipulation techniques; a strong command of Excel and excellent analytical abilities including mathematics and statistical concepts.
