You will be creating, supporting, and optimizing applications and services that run in Amazon Web Services (AWS). The role requires programming or scripting experience, hands-on technical skills, an appetite to master new technologies and excellent communication skills.In this role you will work to engineer and continually improve our applications and their supporting platform. As part of the DevOps team, your role is to understand requirements and assist our technical teams in the design, build and maintenance of consistent, secure and efficient applications utilizing AWS architecture. This will involve working with AWS CDK for infrastructure and Python/Bash for scripting.We encourage cross-team collaboration and as part of the wider Technology team, you will have the opportunity to become an expert across multiple disciplines.ResponsibilitiesPlatform Development

• Automating day-to-day tasks
• Integrating new and existing services
• Developing and maintaining our internal AWS CDK construct library
• Developing and maintaining Python CLI tooling.

Application Development

• Creating and maintaining local and deployed application environments
• Creating a consistency of approach across a variety of applications.

Operational Support

• Maintaining the security posture of our applications in line with our SDLC and security guidance, making use of automation and standardisation wherever possible
• Identifying and pursuing potential cost or efficiency savings to deployed infrastructure and workflows.

QualificationsMust Have

• Software development and scripting experience
• Ability to self-learn and rapidly prototype ideas
• Interest in the interconnectivity of application components
• A keen interest in expanding your AWS knowledge through company provided training
• Ability to challenge the status quo.

Good If You Have

• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)
• Experience building web applications
• Able to be productive in a scrum/agile development process
• Ability to visit our Bath office occasionally.
