We are looking for a Junior Underwriter (m/F) Natural Resources, Onshore Energy, based in London.

The Impact You Will Have 

Reporting to the Team Lead Onshore Energy, you will prepare underwriting processes and liaise with other functions to ensure timely/accurate policy administration. Your responsibilities will also include negotiating participation, pricing and terms & conditions, supporting the acquisition of new business and retaining existing business, developing peer level relationships with brokers. 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include: 

• Underwriting of new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom-line targets in line with underwriting strategy. The level of underwriting authority will depend on the successful candidate’s level of experience.
• Proactively prepare relevant underwriting information including client/market research and claims data.
• Assist in the coordination of Natural Catastrophe reporting.
• Ensure Underwriting compliance in line with LoB governance framework e.g. Underwriting Authorities, global MSU and Underwriting Guidelines.
• Assist in ensuring contract certainty is achieved on all accounts at time of inception.
• Assist in ensuring binding of FAC Reinsurance prior to policy inception.
• Liaise with other functions e.g. operations, credit control, MMC, ARC and Claims.
• Develop and maintain peer relationships with brokers, clients and the Underwriting teams in the Region and CUO.
• Assist in the management of broker facilities.
• Support administration of international insurance programmes.
• Support Senior Underwriters and other Underwriters in the team.

What You’ll Bring to the Role 

• Previous experience in the Natural Resources/Onshore Energy Line of Business in the London insurance market is preferred.
• Degree-level education or progress towards professional insurance qualification preferred.
• Understand how multinational property programmes are facilitated with premium flow, local policy issuance, local tariffs and taxation.
• Sound understanding of the policy administration life cycle, information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings and credit control.
• Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ideally are proficient with Property Underwriting systems (CORES).
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• You embrace agile working and engage in constant learning, to adapt to internal and external customer needs.
