DESCRIPTIONThe Amazon General Intelligence Data Services (AGI-DS) organization is engaged in data processing to support generative, large language AI models. Come build the future of AI with us.The team is seeking a Localization Language Manager to join our AGI-DS organization. As a language manager, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the quality of our Dutch, French, German or Italian content. The successful candidate will work with users of the content to understand pain-points and implement improvement programs for their language. Additionally this role will support the localization team in cross-language initiatives, such as helping manage localization projects end-to-end, analyzing and optimizing our budget and evaluating vendor performance.Key job responsibilities
Own the language quality for Dutch, French, German, or Italian by:

  • Authoring, reviewing, editing and scoring localized content
  • Providing guidance on grammar, style and cultural considerations to internal customers for your language
  • Creating instructions for vendors from customer requirement meetings
  • Providing feedback to vendors about quality, and discussing ways to improve localized content
  • Using technology and process improvements to perform quality checks and improve quality of localized content

Support cross-language initiatives and project management, including:

  • Managing localization projects end-to-end, removing road blocks to ensure they are delivered on-time
  • Oversee monthly vendor invoicing to ensure we are within our yearly budget
  • Create and update localization workflows, translation memory, style guides, and glossaries
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with localization vendors, continuously working to improve quality and efficiency

A day in the life
Your day involves reviewing localized content, providing grammar guidance, and creating vendor instructions. You attend regular meetings with our data scientist customers, and also work closely with the operations team that is using the localized content you oversee. You manage cross-language projects, oversee budgets, and maintain localization resources. Regular vendor meetings help enhance quality and efficiency. You utilize technology for quality checks and implement process improvements. Balancing language-specific tasks with project management, you ensure timely delivery and budget adherence while refining workflows and resources. Your role is crucial in bridging language gaps and facilitating effective communication across teams.About the team
The AGI-DS Localization team is the owner for all non-English content used AGI-DS wide, which includes guidelines, workflows and training materials in 12 locales. This content empowers data associates across the globe, to perform data labeling, and generate model training. We also help drive strategy on multilingual LLM and Gen AI expansion with the translation, localization and adaption of datasets used for model training. We sit across multiple sites, with presence in the US, Europe and Asia.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fluent and near native level in Dutch, German, French or Italian
  • Fluency of English, both written and spoken
  • 2+ years experience in the localization industry
  • Bachelors degree in translation, interpreting, languages, foreign language, international business or a related field
  • Quick learner of new technology
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
  • Experience working collaboratively across global, cross-functional teams with strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle a variety of assignments, balance priorities and meet deadlines.
  • This role may be based in Cambridge, UK, Amsterdam, Netherlands, Amman, Jordan or Gdansk, Poland

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of CAT tools (preferably Memsource/ATMS)
  • Experience with language data annotation or generative AI model training
