We pride ourselves on service, looking after clients and ensuring they always have direct access to their investment managers and client service teams.The Position:The Lead Paraplanner will support our financial planners by conducting research, preparing detailed suitability reports, and ensuring that our clients receive exceptional service. This role is critical in maintaining the high standards of our firm and ensuring that our clients’ financial planning needs are met efficiently and accurately. There will be one team member reporting into this role, our current Associate Paraplanner.Duties/Areas of Responsibility:Financial Plan Preparation:

  • Assist financial planners in the development of comprehensive financial plans for clients.
  • Prepare reports, charts, and financial models to illustrate client financial situations.
  • Analyse client data and provide recommendations for financial strategies.
  • Complete Suitability Reports
  • Manage investment research committee

Client Service:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for client inquiries and follow-ups.
  • Assist in the preparation and follow-up of client meetings.
  • Ensure that all client communications are documented and updated in the system.

Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct research on investment options, financial products, and market trends.
  • Stay current with financial regulations, tax laws, and industry developments.
  • Provide support in the creation of investment portfolios and financial strategies.

Support:

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of junior para-planners, providing guidance and support in their professional development. Ensure the team’s work is accurate, timely, and adheres to company standards.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all financial plans and documents comply with regulatory requirements and company policies. Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and documentation.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving financial planning processes and contribute to the development of best practices within the team. Maintain client files and ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.

General

  • Understanding and adhering to the Financial Conduct Authority Tier 1 Conduct Rules
  • Maintaining sufficient knowledge on regulatory matters relevant to own role and tasks (these will be explained during your induction and ongoing training & development)
  • Correctly identifying and escalating issues to the Money Laundering Reporting Officer/Compliance Oversight/Financial Planner, or management when necessary
  • Conduct all tasks in line with business processes and compliance policy at all times

Any other duties will be of a nature that can reasonably be expected to be in your capabilities based on your knowledge, experience, and demonstrated competency.
  • Act in accordance with Consumer Duty Rules (in particular but not limited to Consumer Principle 12, Four Outcomes and Cross-Cutting Rules) which sets higher and clearer standards of consumer protection across financial services and require you and the company to act to deliver good outcomes for customers.
  • You must adhere to The Conduct Rules which outline the minimum standards of individual behaviour in financial services.
  • To demonstrate commitment to pro-actively deliver good outcomes for customers and put customers’ interests at the heart of business activities.
  • Maintain the overall standard the FCA expects firms to adhere to.
  • Abide by the FCA Individual Conduct rules.
  • Complete any training assigned by the company
  • Complete any professional qualifications which are a requirement for your role

Experience and Qualifications:Skills & Experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and electronic diary management
  • Experience with Financial Services back-office systems (e.g., IO)
  • Knowledge of financial services products and basic compliance requirements
  • Skilled in audio typing, correspondence raising, and diary management
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain client trust and inspire confidence
  • Excellent communicator (both written and verbal)
  • Highly organized, methodical, and disciplined with strong attention to detail
  • Able to prioritize workload and work independently after training
  • Ability to manage one other team member – the associate Para-planner
  • Experience with financial planning software and tools (e.g., Defaqto)

Qualifications

  • Relevant financial planning certifications (e.g., CII)
  • Desirable: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in a financial planning or similar role

  • Three Financial Advisors, one is currently on Maternity Leave until June next year
  • Senior Relationship Manager which the Lead Paraplanner will be reporting to
