About the Lead Power Analyst RoleThis employer is a global leader in Energy Markets Consulting and are currently hiring for their specialised and global energy markets modelling team. The company has consistently grown its global client base and the successful candidate will have many opportunities to work on industry leading research and projects focused on the development of datasets and models for European energy markets. This is a new role and a key hire within the European Markets Consulting team.This is a key hire within the EMEA team due to growth and as such the successful applicant will have a strong career grounding already in Power Market modelling and Power Market fundamentals.The role encompasses the review of energy markets and fundamentals and you will be excited to further develop your understanding of energy market fundamental drivers. This includes but is not limited to the demand/supply balance across Europe for electricity wholesale markets, generation dynamics, and emerging technologies.Responsibilities:

  • Experience and enthusiasm for working with intricate models, demonstrating an ability to decipher complex data patterns.
  • Demonstrate excellent proficiency in Excel, with a focus on data analysis and manipulation (programming skills not required)
  • Database management for differing datasets to enhance modeling capabilities.
  • Forecasting and modeling of energy markets utilising your knowledge of market dynamics and trends.

Qualifications, Skills & Experiences

  • Experience with energy market modelling, specifically with understanding of European Power Markets
  • Knowledge and experience of short/medium term markets is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of fundamental modelling is essential
  • Experience with tools like BID3, PROMOD, PLEXOS (or similar simulation stack or production cost) would be a benefit
