About UsCulture, Media and Creative Industries is a vibrant, research-led department that approaches a new subject area with traditional academic rigour.We specialise in the relationship between all three of culture, media and the creative industries -from the origins of the first through the development of the second and the energy of the third.We approach all these from a variety of different perspectives achieving both breadth in scope and depth in specialisation. Our academic staff are drawn from a variety of disciplines across the arts, humanities and social sciences, focusing our collective expertise together from a range of complementary and converging viewpoints. We are unafraid to take risks.Our research impact and research environment were rated as either ‘world leading’ (4*) or ‘internationally excellent’ (3*) in the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF2021) results. Together, our current staff account for over 50 books, edited volumes and edited journals as shown on our departmental publications wall. We have over 20 active researchers, including five “full” professors, together with 40 postgraduate research students.About The RoleThe Department of Culture, Media & Creative Industries (CMCI) seeks to hire a Lecturer in Culture, Media & Creative Industries (Academic Education Pathway) for a fixed term of 12 months. This post will contribute teaching and pastoral support across our expanding portfolio of courses: including BA Culture, Media & Creative Industries; MA Arts & Cultural Management MA Cultural & Creative Industries; MA Digital Futures & MA Global Media Industries. CMCI is distinctive in its commitment to interdisciplinarity, and the position requires teaching across a broad range of areas. We seek applicants who can contribute to our goals of delivering innovative, inclusive, and socially-engaged education, and the ongoing diversification of our curriculum.This is a full time, fixed term contract for 12 months.We expect interviews to take place w/c 16th SeptemberAbout YouTo be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:Essential criteria * PhD qualified in relevant subject area (or pending results)

  • Excellent knowledge, understanding and experience of a relevant field of expertise
  • Experience of teaching and marking relevant subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Evidence of engaging and effective teaching to small and large groups, in person and online, and to students of diverse and international backgrounds
  • Commitment to student learning and welfare, including providing academic advice, assessment feedback, and pastoral support (e.g. as personal tutor)
  • Evidence of an effective and collaborative approach to academic administration (with academic and non-academic colleagues)

Desirable criteria * Completion of appropriate training in Higher Education teaching and learning/academic practice

  • Completion of appropriate training in equal opportunities, diversity, and inclusion
