About You
Macquarie University’s growing discipline of Business Analytics seeks a Lecturer with scholarly expertise in business analytics, applied data science, and cybersecurity management.
This role is open to both balanced teaching and research as well as teaching and education applicants.
– Balanced Academic Role (Teaching and Research): A strong contribution to research, publications, and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
– Teaching and Leadership Role: You will make a strong contribution to teaching, service and connection at postgraduate and undergraduate levels. You may also proactively contribute to the efforts of the Department to enhance its reputation with external audiences.
You are an emerging scholar with expertise in business analytics, applied data science, AI, or cybersecurity management. You bring a strong research track record, with publications in high-quality journals and a commitment to developing innovative, impactful research.
In addition to your research, and specially for the teaching and leadership role, you are an engaging educator, capable of delivering high-quality teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You have experience designing courses, incorporating technology-enhanced learning, and using data-driven insights to enhance student outcomes.
You thrive in a collaborative academic environment and are passionate about engaging with industry, professional organizations, or interdisciplinary research teams. Your ability to mentor students, contribute to administrative tasks, and drive curriculum innovation makes you a valuable addition to our team.

The Department actively engages in and promotes research in both qualitative and quantitative aspects of business analytics, AI, cybersecurity and technology management. We have expertise in a range of endeavours from applied through to the more theoretical. Our expertise covers quantitative, statistical and mathematical data modelling methods and qualitative methods into investigation of organizational and societal implications of data analytics as well as applications of artificial intelligence and technology management. Staff are given generous financial support for their research endeavour. Being a member of a large department, you will have a fair teaching load that provides you with time to engage fully with your research.

Essential Selection Criteria
A PhD (completed or near completion) in business analytics, cybersecurity governance or management, applied data science, or a related field;
For the teaching and research role: A record of quality research publications in above fields in FT50, UTD24 100, and/or in A* and A rank journals as per ABDC journal list.
For the teaching and leadership role: a record of curriculum design, program and team leadership, and teaching innovations.
Proven high-quality teaching experience in business analytics, AI, or cybersecurity governance.
Proficiency in Python or other programming languages.
Strong knowledge of SQL, database management, and contemporary analytics tools.
Experience with data visualization tools and platforms (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, etc.).
A commitment to engagement with industry or the wider academic community to enhance teaching and/or research outcomes.
Ability to innovate in teaching, particularly in business analytics, data science, and AI applications (including Large Language Models and GenAI).
A track record of academic service and teamwork in supporting teaching and research activities.
Desirable Criteria:
Membership in relevant professional organisations (e.g., ACS, IEEE, INFORMS, AIS, or similar).
