Rotation: 7 days on, 7 days off – Local / 14 days on, 14 days off – Out of Province
Shift Length: 12 hours
Travel: Flight from airport closest to point of hire to Thunder Bay – Chartered flight to site

Pre-employment requirement: Drug test and criminal background checkJob Summary:The Mobile Maintenance Planner develops, implements, coordinates and monitors mobile maintenance plans in order of priority for preventative, equipment overhaul, backlog, and ad-hoc maintenance work activities. The Mobile Maintenance Planner incorporates mobile asset strategies and enhances planning processes to improve service quality, data accuracy, efficiency, and workplace safety.Responsibilities:

  • Plan and release work orders (task list, SOPs, permits, resourcing, BOM, tools, equipment, costs, preliminary work, scheduling date) following Redpath Canada Limited Process Standards.
  • Creates and distributes a weekly schedule based on the availability of team resources.
  • Plan and release long-term PCR work orders including, future parts reservations, parts kits, and components.
  • Prepare equipment PCR project work packages that include the proper identification of the scope and coordinate with the scheduler to determine important PCR schedule milestones.
  • Develop work packages that clearly identify task conditions, constraints, hazard controls, permits, labor, equipment, materials, specialized tools, services, test and handover procedures, durations, sequencing, and timing.
  • Record maintenance activities and verify that data from completed work packages is accurately captured using Oracle eAM (CMMS) to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Address any associated planning issues, such as operational requirements, parts availability, equipment deficiencies, inadequate work procedures, and data accuracy.
  • Update maintenance planning documents requirements with feedback from supervisor and crews and data from completed work orders (i.e. work packages, checklists, asset register, BOM, etc.).
  • Develop standard activity and BOM for reoccurring preventive and corrective work.
  • Work within assigned budgets and escalate to management should a budget be exceeded.
  • Determine if the work has warranty considerations.
  • Interface with other departments (e.g. maintenance execution, finance, and supply chain) and other external stakeholders.
  • Shipping and receiving for development and construction activities.
  • Ordering of materials for development/construction and interface with supervisors in those departments.
  • Review weekly maintenance schedule compliance.
  • Review the daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs.
  • Determine economical validity of repair or refurbishment of a component or equipment.
  • Monitor expenditures within your area of responsibility.
  • Seek ways to improve work package requirements and minimize costs without sacrificing safety or quality.
  • Some outside work in required and snow removal in our laydown areas. Training will be provided for equipment operation such as a Cat Loader.
  • Assist in developing a zero-based budget from the asset management strategy process.

Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years of experience in a mobile maintenance related trade.
  • 1 or more years of planning & scheduling experience in asset management in large open pit mining operations, mineral processing plants or other heavy industrial facilities.
  • Advanced computer skills specifically, Microsoft Office Suite are required.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (Oracle eAM or similar);
  • Experience with maintenance of heavy mobile equipment and/or UG equipment (Caterpillar is desirable.

Additional qualifications – Competency requirements

  • Proven communication skills, both verbal, written and non-verbal.
  • Understand efficiency drivers in a mining operation.
  • Previous exposure to lean and multi-disciplinary team leadership is desirable, but not essential.
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, showing initiative and creativity.
  • Good time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Exercises judgement within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Ability to make effective, intuitive decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to prepare accurate records and reports.
  • Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems.
  • Knowledge of relevant local legislation.
  • Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety Programs.
  • Exposure to Project Management tools and techniques.
  • Experience with Short- and Long-range maintenance planning.
