Recognizing that Black, Indigenous, and other Racialized communities have experienced inequities that have developed historically and are ongoing, we strongly welcome and encourage candidates from those communities to apply.Your opportunity:Working under the Associate Registrar and Director of Student Services you will be responsible for overseeing financial aid and service delivery programs, supervising a team of Financial Aid Advisors and a Financial Aid Assistant, interpreting and applying academic and government financial aid rules to ensure students meet requirements and advising students on financial matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual’s background.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing financial aid and service delivery programs
  • Implementing plans and process improvements for administrative workflow
  • Interpreting and applying academic and government financial aid rules to ensure students meet requirements
  • Advising students on financial matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual’s background
  • Developing and facilitating educational workshops and seminars
  • Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
  • Directing the activities of a group of staff-appointed employees all performing a similar function

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of related work experience advising students on financial aid matters and applying academic and government financial aid rules in a post-secondary environment.
  • Experience reviewing and processing student financial aid applications and advising on OSAP and other financial aid programs, bursaries and grants.
  • Experience developing and facilitating educational workshops and seminars.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial aid policies and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students frequently under stress to promptly and accurately meet their needs.
  • Strong computer skills with experience in Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and a student database system such as ROSI/ACORN.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Knowledge of academic, University and government financial aid programs, policies and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team centered environment.

USW Pay Band 15 — $95,627. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $122,290. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
