Join us as we build a knowledgeable and collaborative team that courageously changes how transit projects will be delivered.Our Rapid Transit Revenue Vehicle Team is seeking a Manager, Light Rail Vehicles to support all activities associated with Light Rail Vehicles (LRV), such as directing and leading the TA (Technical Advisor), assisting in developing technical specifications and contract requirements, set the vision and develop strategies for LRV integration, coordinating with Light Rail Transit project delivery teams through all stages and phases of the LRV procurement. As the Manager, provide project management and engineering support services associated with the delivery of the vehicles.What will I be doing?

  • Work within an integrated team of Metrolinx, Consultant and Technical Advisor staff for the procurement and supply of rail vehicles for Metrolinx’s Rapid Transit Project Delivery Teams (RT PDT).
  • Support the efficient delivery of rail vehicles through the design stages, construction, testing and commissioning, operational readiness to revenue services and assets handover to Metrolinx.
  • Maintain and manage relationships with external stakeholders, facilitating coordination of requirements, reviews, approvals and resolving technical issues.
  • Facilitate the review and comment process and provide dispositions for work submittals.
  • Participate in comment resolution meetings with the Contractor, Technical Advisor, and Stakeholders’ Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to facilitate early resolution of significant issues.
  • Collaborate with Project Delivery Teams, enabling the successful commissioning of vehicles, systems and infrastructure elements.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Completion of a university degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering – or a combination of relevant education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Professional Engineering License (P. Eng) and Project Management Professional (PMP) designation would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in managing Projects involving rail vehicles in planning, design, and construction, and commissioning in an operating Rapid Transit railway environment.
  • Experience in participating and collaborating as part of a cross functional team.
  • Experience in project management principles and practices, including budget and schedule controls, for adherence to timelines, budgets, and project performance objectives.
  • Knowledge of P3/AFP/PDB contracts, consulting/construction contract law, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, and construction standards and procedures applicable to working in an operating Railway environment.
