This role involves the strategic planning, design, and execution of sophisticated network and data center architectures, including the management of both physical and virtual network infrastructures. The manager also oversees the integration of cloud services with existing on-premises infrastructure, coordinating the seamless migration of data and applications to the cloud while balancing cloud solutions with on-site capabilities. They develop robust network security measures, disaster recovery frameworks, and data backup processes to minimize downtime and ensure continuity of operations.Key Responsibilities:

  • System Design: Develop and implement network and data center architecture to support the college’s operational and strategic goals.
  • Capacity Planning: Forecast future infrastructure needs and plan for capacity expansions to ensure scalability and reliability.
  • Technology Assessment: Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations for adoption to enhance the college’s IT infrastructure.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Building and Leading the Team: Responsible for recruiting, mentoring, and developing a team of IT professionals, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge necessary to support the organization’s network and datacenter operations.
  • Performance Management: Regularly assess team performance, provide constructive feedback, and implement professional development plans to enhance team capabilities.
  • Vendor Relationships: Establish and maintain relationships with key vendors to ensure that the organization receives quality products and services.
  • Project Planning: Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies for network and datacenter projects.
  • Execution and Monitoring: Oversee the execution of projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure the successful completion of projects.
  • Budget Planning: Develop and manage the budget for network and datacenter operations, ensuring efficient allocation of financial resources.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Four-year degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in an IT related field.
  • Cisco, Microsoft, and ITIL Certifications are required.
  • Minimum nine (9) years’ related experience.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Proficiency in designing and planning network infrastructures, understanding both current network configurations and the ability to foresee and integrate future technological advancements.
  • Ability to develop and execute plans that ensure operational continuity in the face of disruptions.
  • Ability to learn and stay current with the latest technologies is vital.
  • Advanced communication and presentation skills to communicate complex IT concepts clearly and effectively but also to engage and persuade diverse audiences, including senior management.
  • Familiarity and understanding of the specific needs and challenges of the post-secondary education environment to enhance the effectiveness of IT strategies.
  • Excellent project management skills are required to lead and manage projects efficiently.
  • Solid conflict resolution skills are needed to help mediate disputes and find mutually acceptable solutions in a diverse working environment.
  • Broad leadership skills managing a diverse team of experienced individuals.
  • Able to travel between campuses and for on-call work during incidents/emergencies.
  • Excellent collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College’s priorities on diversity and equity.
