As a Manager, Payroll Services you will lead the team in their day to day operations and take charge when it comes to managing payroll for our clients. - Your job will break down in to the following categories:
Client Portfolio Management: * Successfully manage a small portfolio of clients, ensuring their payroll needs are met with precision and timeliness.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing expert guidance on payroll matters and compliance with government regulations.
- Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies promptly, maintaining client satisfaction and trust.
Payroll Processing and Compliance: * Prepare, verify, and process all employee payroll-related payments accurately and timely.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and local payroll regulations and communicate key changes to the team: CRA, NPI etc.
- Calculate additional payroll premiums such as WSIB and provincial taxes like EHT, and manage associated reporting.
- You will process payroll for our managed clients ensuring timely communication, accurate payroll and benefit adjustments, ROE submissions, T4’s and detailed reporting
Team Leadership: * Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Payroll experts.
- Provide guidance and support to the team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews and support professional development opportunities for team members.
- Monitor rep and team capacity, and ensure client tracking documents are updated in a timely manner
- Creating training program and ensure that the team is prepared for Year-End
Client Support: * Work closely with other client facing teams to assist in client account setup if needed.
- Help new clients streamline their Humi platform to best cater to their company’s payroll needs.
- Resolve client problems and concerns with accuracy and urgency, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
- Handles client escalations from team members
Process Adherence and Improvement: * Follow all payroll processes and workflows meticulously to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Recognize and mitigate risks that may cause client dissatisfaction or operational inefficiencies.
- Collaborate with the Finance team to resolve payment issues and ensure seamless financial operations.
- Always looking to improve or implement new processes to streamline workflows and create efficiencies: Notion, Google Drive, Macros etc.
Cross-Functional Collaboration * Maintain strong organizational skills when logging and managing support requests.
- Continuously improve payroll processes by collaborating with various departments and implementing best practices.
Metrics and Reporting: * Help define, track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of Payroll Services.What we are looking for in a Manager of Payroll Services:
- 4+ years of payroll processing experience, including year end T4 auditing, ROE submissions, and manual payroll calculations for more than 500 Employees
- Understand and stay up to date on Payroll Legislation and compliance through NPI
- Strong analytical skills with experience in analysis, reporting, and metrics-driven decision making.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
- Excellent leadership mentoring and developing high-performing payroll teams, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Able to multitask with having a portfolio of payroll clients on tight deadlines, while also supporting and mentoring a team of payroll experts
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate conversation in a clear and concise manner to both clients and team
- Analytical and strategic thinker who looks for opportunities and spearheads innovation that will drive better process improvements
- Tech savvy and ability to pick up new platforms and software quickly ( has worked in a tech startup considered an asset)

$65,000 – $85,000 a year*We are also open to hiring at the Team Lead Level – compensation will be adjusted accordingly*
