The Manager is responsible for project planning, forecasting and procurement as well as ensuring the support of in-service systems to meet safety, operational and efficiency requirements. Manages customer and stakeholder relations for successful outcomes and proper prioritization. workforceIn this role you will:Manages a team of Engineers, Life Cycle Specialists (LCS), and Software DevelopersResponsible for the proper management of capital projects (schedule, cost, scope) from project proposal to life-cycle managementFully represents NAV CANADA when interacting with key Vendors of ANS Equipment / Services and other stakeholders, both domestically and InternationallyDevelops and supports Policies, Procedures and Standards to ensure that the various in-service systems are maintained and enhanced to meet all safety, operational and efficiency requirementsDirects the life-cycle support and enhancement of ANS systems to position the services with respect to current customer needs with reasonable flexibility to accommodate potential evolving requirements and new services or levels of servicesEnsures operational and technical performance and safety requirements of these systems are achieved and maintained and resolves operational and technical problems.Provides expertise and guidance by managing technical resources to ensure user concerns are met while assessing implications on integrated systems, system replacement and upgrades.Handles information of a confidential and / or sensitive nature, e.g., ARGUS reports, labour relations issues, safety-critical matters, corporate proprietary material, and knowledge assetsContributes to efficient management of resources by being involved in the designing of cost-effective engineering solutions, technology applications and process for upgrades and replacements that promote the highest level of transportation safety.Directs the development of test procedures and testing, certifying system integrity, implementation of hardware and software maintenance philosophy, standards, and procedures, and establishing and maintaining a configuration management program.Identifies and recommends improvements arising from developing technology and defines technical requirements to ensure future compatibility with all ANS systems.Develops engineering management mechanisms and personal networks to monitor manufacturers’ reputation for quality control to minimize downtime and optimize quality and reliabilityIntegrates multiple and complex functional aspects of ATC systems which include systems design, hardware design, software design, ATC requirements, procedures, safety, and risk assessment.Develops system roadmaps to ensure future systems and services are provided in a safe and efficient manner leveraging evolving technology and provides leadership and direction to address and meet the strategic goals and outcomes.What you bring:Graduation with a degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent education (such as 3-year Electronics Technology or Computer Science Certificate) and experienceKnowledge and experience in management techniques and processes including business case analysis, project management, finance, and human resourcesThorough knowledge and extensive experience in directing software and hardware projects by program planning, budgeting, preparing work plans, scheduling activities, setting priorities, and assigning resources to meet objectives and deadlinesThorough knowledge and extensive experience in the development, testing, implementation and life-cycle support of complex, safety critical ANS systemsCurrent and in-depth knowledge of rapidly evolving industry trends, computing and communications technology and products and servicesGood knowledge of procurement policies, tendering processes, proposal evaluations and and to specialists in engineering, including systems engineers, software developers and techniciansWorking Conditions:This position is based in Ottawa and requires the candidate to report to the
