In this role, you will work with a team of engineers and work closely with cross-functional departments to ensure the successful delivery of automation projects. You will play a key role in driving innovation, maintaining high technical standards, and ensuring the overall success of our robotics systems.This role will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office or Toronto home based office. Vancouver-based candidates may be expected to come into office at least once per week.A typical day would involve: * Leadership & Stakeholder Management:

  • Lead & manage vendor partners, technical teams and Internal teams focused on robotic automation systems.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment, providing technical guidance and support as needed.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide career development for team members.
  • Project Management & Execution:
  • Oversee the planning, development, and execution of robotics automation projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Collaborate with project managers, product teams, and stakeholders to define project objectives, deliverables, and schedules.
  • Ensure successful integration of robotic systems into existing processes and workflows.
  • Technical Expertise & Innovation:
  • Apply deep technical knowledge of robotics, automation, AI, machine learning, and related fields to design and implement advanced systems.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and maintain competitive advantage.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges in robotic systems and automation processes.
  • System Design & Architecture:
  • Work with architecture team for design of robotic automation systems, including hardware and software integration.
  • Ensure the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of robotic systems, with a focus on long-term sustainability.
  • Develop and implement safety protocols, risk assessments, and quality control procedures for robotic systems.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams such as product, operations and IT to ensure successful product deployment.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and opportunities.
  • Act as the main technical point of contact for robotics-related inquiries and external stakeholders.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance:
  • Ensure all robotic systems adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and validation of robotic systems to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement and implement solutions to optimize system performance.

You have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least 5-7 years of experience in robotics automation, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of robotics hardware (e.g., sensors, actuators, controllers) and software (e.g., ROS, C++, Python, PLC programming).
  • Proven experience with automation systems, industrial robots, AI/machine learning algorithms, and computer vision.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience managing budgets, schedules, and resources.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders at all levels.
  • Familiarity with safety standards (e.g., ISO 10218, ANSI/RIA R15.06) and industry regulations.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with cloud-based robotics and IoT integration.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with robotic simulation and testing platforms.

Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity.
