Manufacturing Engineer working with and supporting shop floor activities as well as being involved with new projects to the business implementing new processes and procedures in line with Napier’s vision.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified to HNC level or above in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and having undergone relevant training as Manufacturing Technician/Engineer

Experience:

  • Knowledge of modern machining and manufacturing processes, NC programming, ideally from a low-volume, high accuracy manufacturing environment, e.g. Aerospace, Power Generation. Candidates must be highly motivated, be a good problem solver and be able to work both independently and in a team environment

  • Be able to lead and manage projects within Manufacturing, taking responsibility for delivery, project planning, execution and cost

  • Creation and maintenance of supporting documentation to include Manufacturing Routings, Layouts and instructions

  • Creation of Control Plans, Process flow charts, PFMEA, standard operating procedures and standard work

  • Process capability analysis CpK

  • Define, perform and implement investigations into non-conformance through root cause analysis and corrective actions

  • Inspection activities including the creation of non-conformance reports, in process and final inspection protocols

  • Work cross functionally with different departments such as Design, Quality, Procurement and external suppliers

  • Define and procure jigs, fixtures, tooling, gauging and lifting equipment

  • Generate and implement cost reduction initiatives

  • NC programming of CNC equipment

  • Programming of CMMs using PC-DMIS

Skills:

  • Experience in a modern manufacturing facility with a good understanding of modern machining techniques, plus problem solving techniques

  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing techniques and processes

  • Computer/software literate
