  • Administer the overall work to assigned employees.
  • Use automated inventory system to check material.
  • Oversee work sequences, procedures, and methods to meet deadline.
  • Verify incoming shipments are marked, tagged, or otherwise identified correctly.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary Duty Travel, TDY may be required up to 5% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess and maintain a driver’s license in one of the 50 US states or possessions.
  • Employee must possess the applicable license(s) or authorization(s) to operate assigned vehicles.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This is a Term position scheduled to last 2 years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of eight years depending upon the needs of management.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler Supervisor (Direct Hiring Authority) ~ without more than normal supervision. I can plan day to day work of subordinates, respond to subordinates in regard to instructions, specifications, and the tools needed to accomplish their tasks, anticipate /resolve problems in order to meet schedules or deadlines, independently operate various types of forklifts (e.g., electric, gasoline, and/or diesel), and use automated systems to process documentation. I work under normal supervision of a work supervisor or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. – Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort – Regularly stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time. Constant kneeling, crouching, bending, stooping and walking are required. Works in tiring and uncomfortable positions, and in close quarters. Frequently lift and move equipment, components, or material weighing up to 40 pounds. Heavier items are lifted with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. May climb in, on, or under vehicles and other large, mechanized equipment.
  • Working Conditions – Work is performed inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Incumbent is exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas. May be subject to exposure of hazardous material. May require wearing protective clothing such as hardhats, hard hats, gloves, masks, etc. Steel toed shoes are always required.
