Job Summary
IPSD-M has an opening for a Mechanical Systems – Engineering Project Team Leader located in the United Kingdom primarily working from our Peterborough site within Systems Engineering.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a diverse team that play a vital role in the future of the products that we are developing. The team are fully immersed from the start of a new program; setting requirements and technical objectives, right through to planning and delivering validation activities on engine & machine. The role involves working with our UK and global partners along with our customer groups to deliver fully validated robust powertrain solutions.
The successful candidate will be accountable for delivering all aspects of mechanical system reliability & durability for their Virtual Platform Team (VPT). The scope of the role will likely include leading NPI (New Product Introduction) and/or NTI (New Technology) projects including Integrated Powertrain workstreams. As a project leader, they will need to provide both project & technical guidance to the engineers working on these projects within their virtual team. As process owners for Requirements Management, Risk Mitigation, validation planning and more – there is also a fundamental need to support the wider engineering teams. VPT leads work closely with our program team, our customer applications teams and multiple key stakeholders throughout the business. Strong communication skills will be essential.
In addition to the project work, part of this role will include making a significant contribution to the team’s Embed Lean Strategy. The role will include governing and supporting our team process improvement projects whilst driving projects forward using the 6 Sigma DMAIC approach. This will enable the team to Continuously Improve and be ready to support the many exciting projects we have ahead.
The role is within our Peterborough Engineering & Technology centre where you will work alongside a range of system and validation specialists, with support and collaboration from Engineers across facilities in UK, US, China, India, and Japan.
